Spotify Connect to Naim Unitiqute 2 dropouts

Posted by: kaydee6 on 12 December 2014

Hi,

I have the new Naim unitiqute 2-b and I connect by wire to a Airport Express act as a wifi adapter that connects to a Airport Extreme to stream music from my laptop (through wifi). No problem with this setup even with streaming 24/192khz flacs.

Today I signed up with Spotify premium service and streamed 320kbps music to ipad (no problems) but when I choose Spotify connect to Unitiqute 2 I have drop outs every few seconds. This is happening even with 96kbps bitrate.

Am I doing something wrong here? No problem streaming 24/192 from laptop but spotify connect even with 96kbps it's dropping connection. Any help greatly appreciated!

Hi kaydee,

I suggest you contact Naim support to report this issue. The UQ2B with bluetooth/spotify is a very recent model and I suspect that not too many forum members will be familiar with it so naim support may be your best point of contact for assistance.

This link gives email and telephone contact details for naim support:

Hi sjbabbey,

Thanks for the reply.Have emailed support and was told a new firmware releasing soon will fix this. It looks like the current firmware on my new UQ2 is not really stable for Spotify Connect.

What firmware is it running? It's odd to release something that doesn't work.

It's really weird. Aren't the latest BT & Spotify UQ2's already running firmware we have been waiting to upgrade to?!

That is my expectation too but support is telling me otherwise. It is good though they know there is an issue with Spotify Connect and coming out a fix.

The version on my UQ2B is 4.0.01.

They can't be running firmware that older deviced will move to because its still in beta

Clearly 4.0.01 is on the UQ2B.

Suggests 4.0.01 is the latest version of the software, but has bugs which they're intending to fix with further release. Seems likely it's that newer release we'll all get. No point in releasing 4.0.01 to us if it's still buggy.

Very kind of the new Naim customers to do the beta testing for the rest of us :-)
