So what's the reason the earlier non 192 kHz streamers can't get spotify ?   Can they be upgraded and at what cost?

Hi Magnus... a friend to whom I sent a unit1 enquired about installing a 24/192 board (which I  understand would give you spotify) and the price quoted was a about three hoondred and fifty ugly betties...  (£350) can't remember if it was with or without VAT... quite poss sans VAT. That price was without installation costs, 'cause my cowboy friend, who happens to live in Paddington bear country (That's deepest darkest peru for you), was going to attempt the surgery himself...

OK I have Windows 7 64bit and downloaded and installed a driver from Silicon Laboratories. If you open Control Panel/Programs and Features the driver should be listed there if you have installed it. Suggest filtering by latest date.

Posted on: 16 December 2014 by surfer

no, I cant see it listed there

Posted on: 16 December 2014 by surfer

oh wait a min it is listed as windows driver package

Posted on: 16 December 2014 by surfer

I've just changed the usb cable and it works now :-)

Currently the product data on naim-audio.com doese not indicate such and according to forum member HH no. I don't understand why not as the HDX and US stream radio and rips up to 24/192 as the servers do. Maybe Phil Harris or someone at Naim can officially advise. Actually, my US is in for service as the drive seems to have crapped out and expect it's return late next week. I'm getting great results streaming Deezer (44/16) via SONOS to NDAC but would like to try my Spotify stream via the US to NDAC.

Naim have already said this - I just can't find the relevant thread. I believe it's something to do with how the licence works and the type of machine that can be used for Spotify Connect.

Bummer...thx HH.

Have Spotify option on n-stream. When I select front panel of Uniti says Connect Spotify app. On the app I get launch Spotify app. When I play a song it plays through the phone.

I have Spotify Premium - is there a 'connect' I need to make in a setting somewhere?

Hi Nigel

to get it to connect to your UL you need to press the little speaker in a circle icon. see here:

It will then turn green and connect!

This why I love Spotify!  This post made me pull up the Meters who I have not heard since high school!!  The upgrade works great on my NDX.  Great job Naim!

Just interested how you're getting Deezer at 44/16. Which country are you in? Is it Deezer Elite (which I don't think you can get here in the UK just yet). I'm still putting the Spotify upgrade through it's paces but I do miss the flexibility you get through Sonos. I have Qobuz, Deezer and Spotify all running through the Sonos Connect into my Naim DAC and I love the way you can do a universal search and make playlists which include tracks from all the streaming services and my own UPnP library as well. Also, with the Naim Spotify integration you use two apps; with Sonos you only need one - admittedly this more or less by-passes my Naim streamer which is a bit silly!

Oh... so much for that idea :-(

Fixed, I think... spotify was left running on my work PC... Just logged in and logged out there. Now seems to be stable on the ND5... tbh only been running for 5 mins so far but that's 4 mins better than before!!

Bums, bums, bums... stuttering again. Worked okay this am for an hour before work. Just tried it this pm and won'y play for more than 15 seconds before stopping/stuttering for a couple of secs. Spotify turned off everywhere else. app restarted. Just about to try ND5 reboot....

Reboot ND5 and no fix. Pings to ND5 show network is rock steady. Had enough for today. I sent an email off to Naim support but no answer yet. I'll chase them up. At this rate I'm going to be cancelling the £10pm :-(

Penny has just dropped... Once Spotify Connect setup, then the Naim app need to be run at all, and the regular Spotify app is all that is needed, and then once the Spotify app has loaded the playlist (which it does automatically) into the streamer, no further app input is required and you can close the Spotify app down on the iPad .. Now I do like this functioanlity.. Nice one Naim.

Allen, hope all is well with you. Unfortunately that which you really want, a lossless service where the best mastering available has been chosing or you can select the mastering from a list of options yourself, is a long way away. I would guess 10 years or more.

Until then it is a choice of compromises. It may be lossless for example but some of these remasters are so dire that who cares?

I don't think anything will match let alone surpass your own collection to your ears for a good while yet.

it's true that the requirement to set the Spotify Connect volume control to max applies to the ND products. If it isn't the result will be that:

- Spotify will be quieter than other inputs;

- users "will experience a (serious) drop in audio quality".

Oh dear! This all sounds far too complicated. I understand I now have to update the software in my NS01, update the nStream app to the new Naim app AND have to update the software in the NDS!

This sounds all too risky to me and I fear it will inevitably go wrong. Does it HAVE to be done? What are the real benefits? Does it sound any better?

Posted on: 16 December 2014 by dukeofhazard

The naim app keeps asking me if I want to switch sommer time on/off - every time when I start the app. Am I the only one with this problem?
