Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.

The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.

Ah, that's better.  Like those Martin Logans.  Do they work well with the 250?

Posted on: 07 March 2015 by nickpeacock
Yes the 250 grips them tightly, but I have to say it's the Hugo which really made everything sing in 3D.

Hello, 1st post so Got everything crossed that these pics appear,if they do it shows my new listening room, oops! that should say orangery if SWMBO questions you.

The Kudos C20 are new and the Decca London gold has just been completely rebuilt, heaven.

Electronics are tucked in the far corner meaning 18 mtrs of Naca5 were needed, fortunately ebay provided 19 mtrs for half price thank god.

Longtime lurker, first post.  Be gentle.

My only piece of Naim gear is a Nait 2 but it's a doozy!  I generally prefer tube / valve gear, but two companies have allowed me to appreciate the solid state alternative, 47 Labs and Naim.  Both these companies produce (at least one piece!) gear which is just as involving as any of the tube gear I've owned.

Here's a brief description of the solid state setup I use.  I won't mention the tube gear for fear of being banned on my first post.

Main source is a VPI Aries II turntable / VPI JMW-10.5 tonearm and either a 47 Labs MCBee or a Koetsu Urushi Platinum cartridge.  Phono stage consists of either a 47 Labs Phonocube or a Cinemag step-up transformer into the MM stage of the Nait.  The Phonocube is more resolving, but the SUT / Nait MM is just as fun and involving. Speakers are a set of ProAc Studio 140.

I continue to experiment with gear that interests me, but the combos listed above are as good as anything I've had.

Very nice and clean system! That turntable looks great and must sound awesome.

Looks great!! I use a vpi scoutmaster and i plan to test a koetsu black, can you describe the sound of vpi with koetsu? I had a nait 2 20 years ago and used it with a tim de paravicini step up tranformer, and sometimes i miss that sound

Ps.: nice room, floor and furniture and carpet look very warm and inviting! Christoph

Lo-Fi,

Your post, room photos, and gear set up show great attention to detail.

All very nice!

System renewal after almost five years: digital transport, integrated w/dac and floorstanders replaced a Uniti and Proac Response D1 which now are our second system. Contrary to what one might expect, the window behind the speakers does not have a negative impact on the performance -  maybe because the speaker are firing down to the bottom of a t-shaped room :

looks like a really lovely room and good view from where the speakers are. i am jealous -- my system shares space with my office -- and practical demands of having also work in there sometimes work agains the requirements of the system.

last night when i was reorganising my office to accomodate a new floor book case, i found i had to move the record storage iCubes out of the office to make room -- but where to?? the loft was a possibility -- so i went there to assess.

it is then i was met with a wall of shelves full of the suff -- and i must say there is a bit of me that left a bit uncomfortable about this -- do i really need THAT may records???

another thing that also worried me a little -- the loft suffers extemes of temperature over the seasons and i start wondering whether this had any negatve impact. anyone know?

oh, by the way, i ended up re-organising some space in the garage and that is where the iCubes are now -- this also means i can get to them easily as the records that i had in my office were intended to be 'recent play list' sort of...

please make me feel better by posting your even more ridiculous vinyl record collections. actually, all my CDs are also in the loft and they occupy several media shelves there -- lots of space as well...

ah well..

enjoy

My at the moment temporary system...

To the left my Linn Axis with my daughter has taken for granted is hers, which leaves me no choice to get an LP12 within a few weeks.

Flatcap is already for sale to be exchanged to a HiCap.

UQ2 is to be exchanged to either a Superuniti / NAP200.....or NAC272 / NAP200......

...many many choices.....so little money...

Apparently I´m not allowed to attach images.... som really weird microsoft-like widow boxes appear on my iMac....

Thanks Gianluigi!  Yes the TT does sound awesome.  It's the last piece of gear I'm tempted to replace.

Thanks!  About the avatar.  I'd tried to load a GIF file but it appears as a blank white box.  Maybe I will stick with it and claim that I'd planned it that way.  White album it is then!

Thanks for the kind compliments Christoph.

Well I'm not really much for sonic descriptions but it's safe to say that Koetsu and VPI perform very well together.  I have found that the Koetsu prefers to see a little fluid damping with the unipivot arm so that's how I use it.

I was an early adopter of the VPI 3D printed arm, but after much experimentation, I found the cartridges I have work better mounted to a metal arm, again with viscous fluid damping.  I've since sold the 3D.

Thanks for the answer, i was tempted by the new 3d printed arm, i will ask my dealer!

Interesting...

Is this a SU + 250.2?

And do I see a Lehman Linear SE too?

Indeed, beautiful pictures of a very nice system. I envy those who manage capturing such warm and clear lights in their rooms...

Thanks

Shame on me to forget the speakers: Kudos "Super 10" with PV1D-Sub - in my humble opinion a perfect match!

Have to take a current picture of it...
