System Pics 2015

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.

The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.

Unboxing of new gear.

Bought a mint and freshly serviced 42,5 from a friend here in the north.

Should be nice with a Hicap. (Serviced in 2008, but not used since 2010).  Now I only need a CB power amplifier. Or should I go active with the SBLs?

I think all the "shoebox" products are just so cool; would love to have a little system made up of them with some small standmounts..

Posted on: 07 April 2015 by joerand

They are pretty cool looking, esp with the phono, tape, tuner selects.

And is it true that stacking was acceptable in those days?

It was pre-Fraim.

I think everything was placed on Sound Organisation Tables in those days. Or Ikea Lack tables.  I remember seeing an LP12/ 32.5/SNAPS/ 6 pack driving Isobaricks at SO London Bridge all on those little black tubular framed tables.  I still have one upstairs in the box room.  Like many I would love to have a shoebox amp set up as a 2nd system, perhaps driving the Kan2s I've got in the same box room....fed by an Arod Armageddoned LP12.

My first Naim pre-amp (along with a 140). My old Black tubular stand is doing sterling service as a plant stand in my parents porch !

Must say, those chrome bumper shoe-boxes really do look the part. I particularly like the toggle switch.

I wonder how many other hi-fi manufacturers' gear of that age is still in use and demand today?

Love it! A Nap110 will complete your shoebox theme or CB 250 if you need more power with a matching green light!

Just something timeless about the CB design-my favorite. Congratulations!

I love the cherry and would have gotten that but I got a 'good deal' on all black.  I think that your 'small Fraim' looks really good!

A really nice minimal but competent system pixies!

Enjoy.

Cheers guys. Clearaudiolover, the tiles are custom made granite plinths from a local stonemason. I need them because my carpet is very thick and I struggled to get a proper spike fix on my suspended wooden floor below.

What rack did your equipments sit on previously? How do you find the effects after installing the Fraim? Does it result into more visually appealing than sound improvement?

That's quite a makeover, Rackkit!

What a wonderful room and setup.

I've never seen or heard SL2's in the flesh but to me they're by far the best looking Naim speaker.

cheers,

Alco

Thanks Alco.

The Ikea unit for the AV bits was only bought a couple of weeks ago but has really helped to tidy that end of the room up.

It took me months of scanning the classifieds to get a set of SL2s especially in Maple to match the rest of the speakers. Well worth it though.
