System Pics 2015

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.

The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.

Feeling a little shy about posting a new pic of my modest system after looking at some of the absolutely mind blowing systems in this thread...

Anyway, since my last system pic post Ive moved my gear from between the speakers on a non-bespoke unit) to a side wall and added a Hutter rack.

The Hutter fits well with the proportions of our small size British living room and MrsH approves!

I knew sound would be improved by making this change, but I didnt expect quite as much of an improvement as I got.

The bass and overall clarity / separation has sharpened up quite considerably.

All in all, very happy with the change.

(apologies for the pic - iPhones arent great in low light!)

ChrisH,

Looks like a lovely room. I also found that moving the gear from between the speakers is a worthwhile upgrade. Enjoy!

I have seen many systems in my time, but that is mind blowingly epic. Me and the Mrs would love to hear. We have Isobariks and are struggling to hear a replacement that we love - never really heard S600, except active once (at a show) which was awesome.

Best regards

No Naim in the main system, but in case anyone's interested: Accuphase integrated and CD player, and Bryston BDP-2, on a Finite Elemente rack. The garden hose that connects to the off-pic speakers is Siltech.

Cheers,

EJ

I think it looks great. Who wants a power station in the living room? My setup is even more inadequate...

Oh yes!  A room where the priorities are clearly correct.  Very nice.

Love those power meters on the Accuphase!

A real throw back to the all analog days. Enjoy!

I've got just a couple of the Vicoustic Wavewoods and they do wonders taming reflections in my room. You went all-out with the panels in your room. Bet it sounds great.

System looking excellent Pete! Have you managed to get any more interesting material for the R2R deck?

That is a truly lovely room and system, and Sonus Faber speakers in graphite are among the most beautiful speakers ever made!

Yes, I like the look of the Accuphase kit, too. Though very eighties I think those hefty bronze boxes really look the part.  Until my CDX2 replaced it, I used to use an Accuphase DP80L CD transport and loved the Rolls-Royce precision and silence of it CD drawer.  The beast is still in my loft.

Hey Mike. How's about a few pics of your system complete with your new cables?

My photography skills are pretty woeful, Steve, but I've been meaning to take some of the system for a while and your prompt has reminded me.

Any system with a Sony R2R and a Nak ZX-9 in it is top class in my book...

Cheers Richard and both tape players are not over shadowed by LP12 or the 555!

Nice set up!

Can I assume that door to the left is not in use?  Or is there more clearance than appears in the photo?

Very nice setup and room!
