System Pics 2015
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.
The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.
Yes - they are from plastic kits - I actually have a couple more to be built, and am at the place in my life where I begin to wonder if I will ever get a "round tuit"...that row of books just below the models is all ocean liner history & info too.
DrMark, awesome axe's. I'm a drummer but play a little guitar also. Have Gibson and Martin acoustics, Tele and Strat. Someday would like to give a banjo a go.

built a DiY sealed subwoofer to add to my 2.0..
besides... this year.. i switched from the Technics SL 23 to Technics SL 1210
My rig is not half as beautiful as many others on the forum but i am quite satisfied with the way the sound they make.
Maybe i will post another pic after the sub-woofer is veneered / painted etc..
here they are....and have a great week ahead !

I used to love kits from Revell etc. but never did anything close to the scale you have there. Looks great!

My beloved SuperUniti has been superseded after over two years of wonderful service.

Congrats, HH. I'm about to join the 272 owners' club too - mine arrives tomorrow.

Given the previous evolution of your system, I will be very interested in your thoughts once the 272 runs in. Enjoy!
NIgel - I was looking (longingly) at your setup and a thought just occurred to me - shouldn't you need a PS to run a 250? Or am I confusing it with a different amp? (The things I forget scare me sometimes!)

Dr Mark,I think the 300 and 500 need power supplies as they are 2 boxes, but the 250 and 200 are stand alone in that regard.
DrMark - you're getting slightly confused. A 250 can't power a pre-amp (well, in the traditional sense) and you need a HiCap etc. to power the pre. The 272 is a new beast and obviously has its own power supply.
Ah - so I had it backwards, and the 250 could not power the pre-amp, Can you add a HC to the 272 to any positive effect?

No, the 272 uses Naim's source power supplies, not the pre-amp ones as you would suspect.

The upgrade-path for the 272 is via Naims "digital" PSUs (XP5 XS, XPS or 555 PS). A HC will not worke here.
Has anyone tried the 272 direct to active/amplified speakers skipping the traditional amp set up?

Can't see the pictures only the text "image not found"
Hmmm, I'll try again :-/
Nice system, the racks look great. Also a familiar white box in the shelf.
Thanks,
Yes, I'm toying with taking them out of the box. In a world of "can't be arsed", the extra effort of extracting the records from the box may be discouraging me from playing them ![]()
I think the ceramics above the US look wonderful. The white box is inspiring too.
Indeed, well spotted.
The dog shaped acoustic diffuser must also improve the ambiance of the room...
