System Pics 2015

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.

The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.

Not me I'm afraid. My LP12 was long gone by 2009' and I've never owned a Macbook. It's nice to have been considered a trailblazer, but alas, no.

Davina - the socks are M&S.

Gosh, I'm dull.

I see, the room is a clone of yours but the fire place surround is different...amazing. But I did find yours I think. Same fireplace surround and a rack of Naim to the right at 45 deg angle. All links from the forum. No way you are dull as it seems like a lot of experimenting has taken place over the years.

The Senior Management (my good lady) agreed to me moving my system into the lounge, which involved major reorganisation, wall mounting the TV, new AV stand etc. In return, I agreed to buy some Fraimlite in the appropriate colours. I also had to buy an amp to complete the second system - managed to pick up a Nait 5i 2 at a reasonable price.  I have updated my profile with full system details.

Both systems sound great by the way AND the SM is happy!

Main system:

Second system (still a bit of plasterwork to be done!)

Lovely first system and room.....does the left channel sound a tad warmer than the right ?

Not so much a bad thing'  thinking about it . we read left to right and most sound engineers and remixers follow this logic.  So long as the radiators aren't ticking along it probably sounds better than a tube amp !

Now you come to mention it, the violins have been sounding more mellow. Makes perfect sense!

Welcome to the Maple SL2 owners club HH...

Lovely! Yours have a much more uniform veneer. It's interesting how they can look so different. That's trees for you I suppose.

I was really lucky to come across these having already had Fraim in Maple. The veneer on that and the n-Sub is closer to the n-Sats than the SL2.

And yes, the radiator needs to move, or be painted to match the wall maybe.

Lot more socks on the Linn Web site ?

I empathise with you, I too would only be able to afford the mono version with just the one speaker, as shown.

My humble system from my listening position.... sock missing from these pics

Considering it's Naim's top spec system it seem almost incongruous in its simplicity and low box count, particularly compared to active systems.

It's good to see a black (ash) and silver (natural) Fraim! - Main system set-up.  I know that the ash and silver or cherry and black are firm favourites with many (witness the majority of photo's) ... and this had been my choice.  But my wife said she preferred the black ash shelves ... and every time I look at our set-up I know she chose wisely.

Thanks Mitch

We didn't really have much choice with our decor but I do think it looks really good.
I need to get another level now for the LP12 which I was going to put on my TT wall shelf but it didn't look good at all.

Just lovely. This is a system I would have if I only had your good taste and discernment!

Enjoy

Thanks Clay! I only posted it again to congratulate HH on his recent return to SL2s - in Maple.  Visitors never fail to comment on them, the usual response being "what the hell are they?!"

Checked your system profile and you're not exactly slumming it either! 282/SC2/250.2 is a great combo - i ran it for a few years with Allaes before the current 252/300 kit.

Nice work Dave and congratulations Minky. I wouldn't mind one of those blingy blue ethernet sockets.
