System Pics 2015
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.
The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.

Hi Jumping Jack
I like the angle you chose to frame the photo: it looks serene against the warm glow of subdued lighting. You have made good use of a compact space. White on black makes for a classy combination! How did you manage to find a cabinet to fit that space perfectly?

Than'e a nice, neat looking setup. (Is that a phono stage and PSU squeezed onto the same shelf, though!?)
Hi Minh,
thank you for your kind words. I took this photo with my phone, so it's far from perfect but it gives a good impression of the 'ambiance' of the set ![]()
That cabinet is custom made for that space.

Really nice system, like!
@Chris: yes, that's a HiCap dr and a SuperLine on the same shelf. I have no other way of placing them and I have never heard any (audible) interference... I've placed them as far apart as possible.

VPI Classic series?
Yes, a Classic 1 with Signature arm (Nordost Valhalla tonearm cabling).

Wow. The ambience that you have created with subdued lighting is so peaceful and tranquil. I am appreciative of the dramatic effect you have achieved by carefully positioning the lights for a dramatic effect

I'm planning to get one. What cart does fit it better in your opinion?
@ Minh: Thank you. The spots that we have used in the living room can be aimed and are all dimmable. So the lighting is easy to adjust to any situation. We spend a considerable ammount of time and attention on the lighting-plan when we had the house designed.
@Gianluigi: I use the Audio Technica OC9 (mk 3), which is a nicely balanced cart. Very open and refined. Dynavector and Lyra are also frequently partnered with VPI. I once heard a VPI reference with a Koetsu and that was an amazing combination too.

I'll keep it mind. Thanks a lot!

Ooo! Dramatic.

Lovely set up Jumping Jack. Is the SN2/HCDR well up to driving the Fact.8's?

Love the lighting JJ!
Good lighting really enhances any room.
Good work!
@ Mayor West: I do think so. The fact's don't require that much power but do benefit from a stable amplifier.

Thanks, Jumping Jack. I love the Fact 8's and see them as a potential upgrade in the future so was interested to know if my SN2 would be up to the task ![]()

It will drive them without a problem.
I enjoy then powered by an XS and it sounds pretty good.
After 6 years of delightful vinyl music from the Roksan Xerxes, the time has come to step back from a top spec turntable to an entry level one...
plus the entry level turntable that it sits on...

early days yet, and not yet optimally set up, but sounding very promising indeed.
More to follow as it runs in.
Best regards

It's a Vertere, though which one I'm not sure. Looks tricky to dust.....

Looking really good FT ![]()
Very cool FT!!
Please let us know how it all beds in and how it improved on the older design. Looks like a lot of thought went into this one. Congratulations!
ATB,
Mark

Acrylic eargasm.
Very nice indeed Ian. If it sounds as good as it looks ......................
Enjoy.
John.
Very funny John ![]()
While the arm is a lovely thing, the appearance of the turntable may be quite Marmite-like.
At least it doesn't look like an oil rig, or it would not have been allowed to cross the threshold
I'm mightily relieved that it sounds a whole lot better than it looks!
Best regards, FT
