System Pics 2015

Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.

The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.

Nice Qute setup - make sure it has updated firmware (at least 4.3) and give  NAIM speaker wire a shot (perhaps the white A5?).

Ooh, lovely HH.

That's a beautiful, simple, elegant system that you have there!

Enjoy! FT

From me  ? ...or my system ? Don't wanna scare anyone, so I better post a systempic then.

Well, a system doesn't get more simple than this I guess...

Less is more and this is certainly very nice looking!

I love Alcio's taste in audio and his sense of style.

HH, from the website it's a Rebel Two or Rebel. Rebel Three is a floorstander. Btw, I had demoed B&W 685 and at the end I got myself a pair of Dynaudio DM2/6.. but this Penaudio looks beautiful indeed!!!

Currently it's called the Rebel, as Penaudio recently came up with 3 new Rebel speakers. Before that there was only one Rebel called the Rebel 3. (mk3)

Looking decent HH. No plans to match the QS wood veneer with your speakers?

Nice set up Alco - simple and very stylish as usual.

The rack is the much better sounding bamboo variant, so it's that colour or black. I sold my European Cherry Huuter because it looked odd against the speakers and didnt go with the new colour scheme. My thinking is that the bamboo rack is a completely different colour to the speakers so there's obviously no attempt to be matchy-matchy and failing. Because it's quite dark it just disappears in the corner and there's not too much contrast with the black boxes. The Quadraspire doesn't seem to photograph very well, but in the flesh and with the chunky bronze spikes it's really quite beautiful. Well, I think so anyway, as I know a lot of people don't like it. The bamboo SVT is a totally different animal from the smaller Q4 ref.

Looks very classy, HH. Elegant and classy.

HH,

You've got me thinking this may be the way to go. Did you realize a substantial improvement withe the XPS add?

The difference is huge, it takes the already excellent 272 to a different level entirely.

Couldn't agree more .... The synergy is stunning. And that 250dr is a remarkable amplifier.

Thanks Charlie, though I'm sure yours sounds a lot better! Pixies' system is the alternative three box setup to compete with the 272/XPS/250DR and it would be interesting to compare the two setups. It's amazing how good a sound one can wring from three (or even two, or one) box these days - something that was simply not poosible a few years back. There is certainly less dusting, and cable dressing is a breeze.

i would actually bet on the pre+power combo over the source + integrated.

i don't know what XPS DR brings to the table for the NDX but standalone NDX + SN2 was inferior overall to even 172+200DR on the Ovators s400, at least that was my finding...

rumors heard that the XPS DR to 272 makes wonders... i will wait untill i hear it, to agree...

Nice room.  Also, good balance between music collection and hifi equipment.

Well, let's call it a compromise. One between my family life and audio craze.

Nothng happend as of today. We are all safe. At least untll our next sunday elections which might bring some right wing old school imbeciles to the party.

Ironing board is not always there. But I wanted to give this a 'real life' feel. So I left most of the stuff intact.

Nice art is by my friend from my city

hope it's ok to post art related links.
