System Pics 2015
Posted by: hungryhalibut on 21 December 2014

It's the 21st of December, so it's time for the new System Pics thread.
The SuperUniti and UnitiServe are the same as last year, but the Hutter rack and PMC twenty.23s are new.
Look at Clive taking advantage of the forum's new feature functionality!
Keep that up and you'll be on hoop.la's Christmas card list!

I suspect that'll be a SLippery SLope then.
@Hungryhalibut
I'm a big fan of actively drive SL2s, but don't want to go back there. I much prefer my ARTs in this new room.
@Clive B
It is not the Slippery Slope that worries me so much as the sudden descent into multi-box madness that it entails. I will keep it simple with no more than two pizza boxes if I chose to go that way.
I was only joking, I'm sure the Arts are brilliant. I know what you mean about multibox madness - that's why I and several others have set the limit at three Naim boxes. The Devialets do look lovely though.
A 500/552/555 owner did recently use Osiris/Isis bringing much satisfaction, two boxes, not pizza though beautifull in their own way

I was guessing PMC Twenty.23s fed by Tellurium Q Black.

Proof that S800 are rather small in a room.

DB.

On the left, including designer dust and mandatory widgets.

Very nice DB but if you can afford the Statement pre you should be able to afford one of these...

Very nice, DB.
It looks like the Fraim stack in the corner is "backwards." That must be the 500 head units (to keep SL cables short) with SNAXO on top? It must have been a considerable challenge to work out the cable arrangements...
I wish I could hear music from your system someday - it must be wonderful.

If you orient the dust particles in the same direction I wonder if it improves SQ? ![]()
DB was my inspiration with his "backwards" Fraim stack- no other way I could fit 2 stacks in my alcove. Initially it may look a bit strange but now I think it has some appeal as the two stacks look similar but different- interesting. Anyway, thanks for the idea DB
.

Take heed, good people. I've made the mistake of disturbing the Naim fairy-dust in the past and learned to leave it be. Careful with that vax Eugene.

Or you could have got yourself a very large Xmas tree, DB. ![]()
Stunning looking system. Can't imagine how awesome it must sound.
Mike
Lovely, DB. Good to see that someone else relies on magic fairy dust to upgrade the sound from their systems.
And to think, most people think that it's box & wire upgrades that improve the music.
No Sir. No it is not. It's the fairy dust.
Best regards and a Merry Christmas, FT

The backwards stack was to allow the Snaxo cables to run to the set of NAP 500 without fouling on the rear pillar. I tried this as an experiment many years ago and it sounded so much better that it remains. The Snaxo, even with the internal suspended sub-chassis, is quite sensitive to position and this allows me to tweak it to the sweet-spot were it really sings - otherwise you have to position it where it will best clear the rear pillar and that is not the best place for it.
I used a flash which always makes the dust look worse that it is - really! ![]()
Also the walls are Jade green but the flash makes them more blue than they are.
Anyway I hadn't posted anything on this thread and the Christmas Tree gave me the excuse.

Looks like System Pics 2016 is already under way, here...
