DVD ripping

What is the best way to rip a DVD so that it can play through my hi-fi?

I use DBPoweramp to rip CDs but it doesn't seem to work with DVDs.

I used DVD-AE (DVD Audio Extractor) but new protection on current Blu-Ray won't allow any HiRes rips that easily so could also do with a new solution.

DVD-AE used to have a 1 month trial so worth a go.

I used DVD AudioExtractor - www.dvdae.com

i wanted to rip my audio DVDs (mostly Steven Wilson stuff) to my NAS so I downloaded the 30 trial version - it's fully featured and a doddle to use.

Another vote for DVD Audio Extractor. I also use Slysoft's "Any DVD HD" to strip off BluRay protection, which works a treat but alas only runs on PCs.

If you want to rip from DVD-Audio discs then you can use DVDA Explorer which is freeware but unfortunately won't extract audio from DVD-Video discs whereas DVD Extractor can do both.

Thanks for the responses. i will give DVDAE a go for my Steve Wilson stuff.

I also have Dont Think by the Chemical Brothers which is both a CD and a DVD. Is it possible to rip the full DVD onto Mac or PC and what would be the best software. Itunes doesn't want to recognise the DVD, probably due to copyright.

You can use DVDFab to copy or clone any DVD.

Using DVD AE I have extracted music from music DVDs such as concerts, and if it is a 5.1 mix it is usually a higher res format also, Metallica Cunning Stunts I extracted as a 2 channel 48khz WAV with full metadata.

BD+ protection mind is a pain

+1 for DVDFab - it really is Fab.
Pity they don't do a Mac version, that's my only complaint.

I use DVD Audio Extractor for ripping DVDAs and BD audio discs. To rip a DVD for streaming movies or to overcome BD encryption I use AnyDVD. I did use DVD Fab but it was behind the curve in being able to decode the latest BD releases. I wasn't willing to wait for patches so switched to AnyDVD which has not failed so far.

Another vote for DVDFab.

DVDFab now do an Apple Mac version, but you'll have to buy a new license (PC license not transferable).

DVDFab has a new one for me called Blu Ray encrypted (Passkey for Blu Ray) and just acts as a decryption tool rather than a full ISO copy, (instead of say SlyFox anyDVD-HD) working for me on demo right now for Quadrophenia Blu Ray copying 24/96 WAV via DVD-AE.
