192khz/24bit HD Tracks download album keeps cutting out when playing

Posted by: Stupot on 28 December 2014

Hi. Any help & advice would be really appreciated please

i bought a new unitiqute 2 for Xmas.

Awesome little machine. What a bargain.

I downloaded the free sampler on HD Tracks 96hrz/24bit onto my Mac then copied onto my nas drive.

sounded awesome Streamed to the unitqute plays perfect

i then did exactly the same with an album I purchased from HD Tracks.

this though was 192khz. This time though when streamed from the nas to the unitqute the sound cuts out every 50 secs or sowhen I try to play it. I can't enjoy it

dont know why this happens other than the file is 192khz.

i thought about re-copying it to the nas drive drive From my Mac.

Or is it because the file is bigger being a 192khz?

thank you

Barry Diament has examples of music at various sampling rates and explains the differences, such as cymbals crashes ringing out longer and longer.

Really appreciate all your time & advice for my question. Thank you everyone

sorry for late reply, keep getting sucked back into Xmas.

i love Naim gear, always interesting & never a shortage of helpful people wanting to help on the forum.

im hooked on streaming & Internet radio

think hard wired Ethernet cable direct to the Qute2 sounds might be the best way as well

i think the Naim Qute2 is the best value & most fun hi-fi item I've ever purchased

JUST weighing up new best bookshelf speakers for the Qute 2 at the moment to purchase

between the Harbeth p3ser or Spendor SA1.

As the qute2 systems in the kitchen & going on bookshelfs I think these 2 are the best I've found for a small size speaker as they both have a nice smooth musical sound which I like

ive listened to both & both are great, so spendors might be favourites as I can get for almost half the price of the Harbeth. Harbeth are probably a bit more musical & refined Though.

might put a separate post on the speakers

Just wondering if anybody is using the Spotify on the naim qute2

spotify appears as a available setting on the new Qute 2

i realise you have to subscribe to get full usage

has anybody used it?

& most importantly what is the sound quality like

is it better quality than Radio paradise 320k

thank you

Stu I have it running on my Qute2.  I bought the three month trial for $0.99 / month for the first three months.  To me, all 320kbps feeds sound about the same (not being able to a vs. b too easily).

I can listen to the RP 320k quite happily, but Spotify, unless it's very simple music, doesn't sound anything like as good to me, despite being the same sample rate. I've no idea why that might be so.

I had a similar problem to you when I first started. I would suggest that you purchase a small Apple Airport Express router and set this to 'join' your existing wireless network, in your listening room, close to your equipment.

You should then connect a simple 5-port ethernet switch to the wired LAN ethernet port of the Airport Express, and connect your NAS and streamer to the switch using wired ethernet cables.

This will mean all your streaming is  'point-to-point' between the NAS and your streamer, so does not traverse the wireless network. Your internet radio will continue to work, since the Airport Express is connected to your main wireless router via the wireless network.

In this way you avoid the need for a wired ethernet cable between your rooms, and you will have rock-solid streaming performance for 24/192.
