Naim Lossless Streaming Roadmap Campaign

Posted by: GraemeH on 31 December 2014

OK, we're loyal. We have been with you a long time Naim.

Lot's of separate threads are now asking for clarity regarding the way forward for Naim and lossless streaming.

Please give us an indication of your future intentions so that we can make informed decisions about where to spend our hard earned income.

Thanks,

Graeme

Simon, could be an issue with the update. Will continue to run the NDX to see if I notice any anomalies. Time will tell regarding Naim's lossless integration.

Thanks again for all the guidance.

I'll go 'streaming' when you move in next door to me.

I can't tell a lie, it has  been. I have truthfully have had less trouble streaming than I have had playing CDs with skipping CDs and slipping pucks... But perhaps I am just blessed, and perhaps a little expierienced.. I starting streaming in the late 90s.

Simon

You clearly have 'The Knowledge' Simon. I don't; and the regular 'Please help' posts here are a turn-off.

I am by no means anti new-tech. I love all my Apple iThingies; rip CD's into my iMac and play back with iTunes in my study system. Now that is simple. Naim cannot of course hope to compete with Apple's software budget and workforce.

Good listening.

Observation and a OMG moment.

Have a NDX in for demo. Freshly updated to 4.1 running through different setups streaming with UnitiServe and without, Sonos Connect coax and Toslink into NDX for lossless operation. A Chinese made CAT7 from the router switch to the NDX. Just to test wireless interface I popped on the antenna set the stream and security code and dialed up a tune and surprise...a significant improvement. Then pulled a PL from the Rega Aria and fired up the NDX. I've always had substantial improvement with PL's into Naim gear but was shocked by the transformation this time. Had a long day and was going to pack it in early but could't tear myself away until 2AM. Man this is exciting. I'll switch back to a certified CAT6a as soon as it arrives for comparisons.

The Sonos benefits greatly via the NDX as Simon, GraemeH and others have configured and should be able to safely assume eventual native NDX lossless support will result in even greater fidelity. The system synergy is sounding fantastic. The new cables from Naim seem in order for a go as soon as the arrive.

I wonder how Naim will integrate loss less services in the streaming products. Seamlessly like the radio streams or via app link like Spotify requiring an i device.
