Plex media server

Hi,
Just installed plex media server on my Synology NAS. All worked fine, libraries scanned ok. Viewing by artist and by album works fine on the server.
However, with the n-stream app I "see" the server BUT only get the by artist view ? Searching the forum and other sources did not give me an answer.
Any advice ?

Philippe,
I would not use Plex for UPNP - just use it for Plex clients.
Instead, use the built in Media Server on your Synology NAS for UPNP clients - I use this with great results.
I also use minimserver and tried plex out of curiosity. Can live with the built-in server and minim

Philippe...I am running PLEX on my Qnap NAS, and also on my iMac. I am viewing by Artist, and by Album.
Is PLEX displayed as a Gold downwards arrow on your Naim app? Try clearing the UPnP Cache and the image cache, also reset the app. PLEX should work.
On the left hand side of the PLEX browser, there is an option to create a library. It then gives a choice of photos, movies, TV shows, Home videos and music. Choose Music, then add your music folders. Is that how you set it up? When you click on the library that you created, it should display about 8 various folders, including, artist, album, genre, decade, year and a few others On the Naim app.
Make sure you are running the latest Naim app Version.
Hope this helps
Hi Meerkat,
Everything set up as you said. I do get the 8 views "by Album" but the sorting seem strange to me. Response time is also slower than Minim or the Synology server.
Think I will keep Minim for the transcoding (to wav24) and the Synology for devices that do not process 24bit.
A bit of a pity, metadata on plex seems excellent .
Thanks !

You're right. Just lately, it appears to take about 3-5 seconds to load an artist or album. I tried going back to Twonky, but that also takes a few seconds to load albums. As you say, the metadata on PLEX is excellent.
I know that garyi uses PLEX, I wonder if he is experiencing the same problem? Just a thought, PLEX is due an upgrade soon, as the iMac version has just had one. Also, it's possible that it's struggling with the Naim app.
When I activate PLEX on my QNAP, it takes a long time to select any music, is slow to respond and often drops/stops streaming. It also appears to slow the response of Twonky, Asset etc. By disabling PLEX things speed up considerably with very few delays. I suspect it is better to have only one service working, although Twonky and Asset seems to get along together

PG...The only reason that I dumped Twonky is because it lists and plays my album tracks in alphabetical order, and not as originally listed. I use Twonky in folder view. 16 bit CDs, 24 bit hi-res, and iTunes downloads. The only way that I have found to get round the 'alphabetical' problem, was to manually re tag every album, Which takes forever! I tried Asset briefly, but struggled to get it to work properly.
I agree, it's probably best to have just the one server running at a time.
