And here is a treat indeed. Lenny Bernstein and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra play Haydn's Symphony Number 88 In G Major. Pure wit, joy, a few clouds now and again and a life affirming ending. One of the delightful things about Haydn's works is that although they are serious and perfectly crafted art, they are also a joy to behold, and as Sir Roger Norrington noted in the documentary,"...  it pleases." "What a shame," Norrington added, "that more modern composers don't write music that pleases."

And Haydn being thoughtful here. He kept his less ebullient thoughts for keyboard works, which were mostly designed for himself to play for his own pleasure.
