NSX streamer information

Posted by: whsturm on 09 January 2015

I was reading the latest Hi-fi news today and it refers to a new NSX streamer used with a NAP500 power amplifier and Focal speakers at an audio show in Portugal. Is there any further information on this new streaming product anywhere as it doesn't appear on the Naim website?

If the NSX is being used directly into a power amplifier it suggests that it combines a streamer/pre-amplifier in a single box. Possibly it is a high end version of the 172?

Cor! I'm surprised it hasn't been announced if it's already been demonstrated and reported. I think it more likely, however dull, that you may have been the victim of a typo/confused writer/lax editor.

Typo sounds the most likely, as the S and D are next to each other on the keyboard

A network-capable equivalent of the DAC-V1 is a logical step (like the NAC-N 172XS but with a big-boy volume control and better DSP and output buffering), which would probably account for the piqued interest...maybe with XPS-style power-supply upgrades.

Yes I did think that it might be a typo in the magazine. The thing that 'convinced me otherwise' was that the article says the 'new NSX streamer'. Possibly they aren't aware that the NDX has been around for a few years but this seems a strange oversight for professional journalists. Equally I suppose 'new' is a relative term and the NDX is new compared to the veritable NAP 250....

how much does this NSX costs and were can I order it?

You should be able to purchase the NSX from Honda in a couple of years time when this supercar is relaunched.

Not sure about the Naim NSX streamer though.....

Interesting.
It can be a typing error, of course, but this does not explain why seemingly no pre amp is listed.
Other hand, it may be natural that a not yet publicly known given device is already available in a magazine to the test in order to have timely publication of the first positive articles in the media.

What was the title of the ominous item?
Was it here to the 500? (or unlikely?) Or this was about the speakers?

I saw the piece last night. The photo was tiny. and unhelpful. It did look like poor reporting that got past the editor. And it didn't turn up at CES.

It was also interesting to see Technics back with what looks like a well thought out streamer/pre + power.

Oh well - perhaps @ Bristol, it will make its debut .....

The Name NSX is nothing that comes close to NAC-N 172XS.

Hase someone else read  this magazin issue?
