Ducks or Bucks?

Posted by: joerand on 10 January 2015

Growing up in Ohio during the Woody Hayes heyday, I'm a lifelong Buckeyes fan. Frankly, I didn't think they'd get past Alabama with their third QB playing in his second game. On the other side, a seasoned Heisman trophy winner for the Ducks that seems to always make the best choice on each play. Looks to be a high scoring affair and I have to assume turnovers will be the key.

Just wondering which team folks here favor Monday night.

Difficult to call, but I think Swindon will win, probably 1-0, away to Coventry.

Kevin,

Given the title and details of this post, and fact that you're the first responder, I have to wonder whether you read anything other than the text you quoted. Your response seems wholly misguided. To your credit though, there is an avian mascot involved.

Bucks Joe.

I just need to find a UK stream for it.  What US TV network is it on?

Cheers

Jim it's on ESPN.

Randy -- I don't have a team to root for, but I'll be watching and hoping for an exciting game.  I do have a few friends who went to OSU or who grew up in Ohio (including you) so I'll pull for the Bucknuts.

Ok, just to educate the Brits on here on who the Ohio State Buckeyes are.....and having lived in Ohio for about 3 years I can at least claim a modicum of association with them and of course having attended a few games they are are not far behind my beloved Aberdeen FC on my sporting fan radar.

With a capacity of 104,499 The Horseshow in Columbus is one of the great sporting theatre's!

The video below shows the Ohio State Marching Band (the best damn band in the land) at The Horsheshoe in Columbus dotting the i in Script Ohio...worth watching for those who have never seen it.

I just hope the outcome of the game on Monday results in a National Championship as it did in 2002.  Oh, and hopefully the embedded video works!!

Cheers

Well, humour is sometimes difficult to communicate via a keyboard I guess Joe...

Thanks Bart,

I get the game live here at 1am Tuesday morning on ESPN.....I think I will be up to watch it.

Another bonus of telling your company where to stuff their job as I don't have to worry about work on Tuesday! :-)

Cheers

Yes, 3 - 0 is a pretty comprehensive victory. Coventry really are struggling, aren't they?

Happily, I was wrong. You can have four turnovers and still dominate a game.

Jim & Bart, hope you enjoyed the game.

Next season looks bright for the Buckeyes with a sophomore-laden roster.

Toughest part might be deciding on a starting QB.

Cheers tonight to Buckeye Nation and those that cheer for the underdog!

Toughest part might be deciding on a starting QB. Not in my humble opinion. That's easy just start Cordel Jones Since he started only 3 games and all three of which 1. Won The Big Ten Championship 2. Won The National playoff game to qualify for THE national championship game 3. Won THE national championship

I seen him manhandle Alabama Crimson Tide and that's saying something.

Cheers

Larry,

Hope you found other happy times in N'awlins. Food, music?

Interesting times ahead in NCAA football. A possible power shift to the north? Time will tell. PAC12 largely seen as the next best challenge to the SEC seems debunked for the time. I've never lost faith in the relevance of the Big10 given the large number of pro players they produce annually. Harbaugh should re-establish Michigan in short order and compete with Sparty and OSU. We'll see where Nebraska and Wisconsin go with their new coaches. And Penn State? I think the South and Rustbelt remain hotbeds for the best recruits. Pivotal will be where these recruits choose to play in the next few years.

When I saw the title of this thread I thought someone had been spying on me. I had six mallard 'ducks' to pluck and draw this week, given by a friend for no 'bucks'.

We shall be feasting on them this weekend.
