Naim Mu-so White Noise

Posted by: Somatic on 12 January 2015

I was seeing if anyone else gets white noise coming out of the tweeters when the volume is set to zero. When music plays the faint white noise stays there. Due to higher volume the sound is no longer heard, but I do not like that the noise floor is not completely silent? I would like to know if this is inherent with the wireless technology or if I have a faulty device. Please advise. Thanks guys.

I can't comment on the Muso specifically, but all the Naim systems I've had have produced a small amount of noise from the speakers as you describe. If what you're hearing is the same, it's nothing to do with wifi, the worst case I heard was in a vinyl-only setup.

Thanks for the info. I have not noticed this with my other speakers and headphones. I understand the Vinyl only setup. Do you think you might be getting the white noise from your power source or the cables?

For me, this issue is not common. Not sure if this is some sort of EMI.

Hi, I experience the same white noise. The tone is the same as on other speakers I use, but much louder.

So I would assume it is normal for this product.

When I had it I detected it emitted quite a bit of  white noise that is not associated with my other Naim kit. I don't think you have a faulty unit.

Thanks for giving me the heads up. I also did a search for "white noise" on these forums and saw that it was a common complaint for some Naim kits. I can only hear the slight white noise from 1 meter away. I am fine with it. Just wanted to make sure I did not have a faulty device.

Would the white noise slightly affect the high end register and its reproduction?

Hi,

I am now facing the same problem as you told before. i suppose the "white noise" is a systematic noise from the speaker, but, frankly its some times effect my listen and affect my mood.

Hope it can be soft or the white noise could be go down by upgrade an new version firmware.

How far are you able to hear the noise? Mine is very faint and very unnoticeable at low volume.

I can hear it from 1 meter away. That's with the room completely silent and the volume off. I have to listen hard for it. Right next to it, it is a bit much. From listening space (2 meters) it is non existent.

I have the same experience.

Hope an upgrade can fix it.

I've not had any 'white noise' issues with the MuSo, and certainly nothing noticeable from 1m away or whilst playing music at any volume. I would suggest it's some local interference.
