anyone else having issues with ( in particular) Radio 4 / Radio 4extra...uniti will not play either at the moment!...

Planet Rock is ok though!

I suspect its BBC working on it,  they are changing the old WMA streams

- see Phil's sticky note -  & at the mo all the previous BBC WMA streams are down even tho' they were OK streaming MP3 over last weekend

However both stations are working on "Naims Choice" with the better AAC stream

I am having problems with Added Stations - it is still empty.

But it looks like not many people use this vTuner feature???

Posted on: 03 February 2015 by Mike-B

I really don't know what "Added" stations can be,

I understand Genre, Location, Popular, but what constitutes an added station & who populates it.

Surplus to requirements methinks

when you go up the list of internet stations and reach the root directory called Internet Radio, the Added Stations subdirectory appears first in the list, just before Naim's Choice.  You can populate it by manually adding iRadio stations URLs to your vTuner account.  Great feature and one of the main reasons why I got a Naim network player in the first place.

Why not use the app preset feature??

Just press the star in the centre bottom of the stations open screen & it gets fixed to the app start screen as a preset.

The BBC's in "Popular Stations" are back on stream again,  but they've reverted back to WMA again & with the old buffer issues.

Com-on auntie,  get a grip !!!

"Naims Choice" with the better AAC stream's is all OK

How?  For example I want to add Diva Radio Funk internet station either to my presets or to my Added Stations directory.  The app cannot find it while vTuner can.  And I really want to use the vTuner desktop interface which is convenient and straightforward, easy to use.  But it looks like my vTuner account is not picked up by my Naim network player from some reason?

Does anyone know if vTuner accounts are currently working or not?

I was listening to the BBC6 stream on a Marantz AV streamer this morning (Ironically there were congratulating themselves on how much their listening figures were up at the time) when it suddenly cut out and a pre-recorded message took its place. This was to say that the channel was now off air and that the BBC was no longer supporting WMA streams. I went over to the iRadio app and it wasn't working there either. Neither was the AAC. I'm guessing it's still the BBC tinkering around as mentioned.

It led me to think that all the devices that are out there tuned into the BBC WMA streams will not be able to listen to any of the BBC internet channels by the end of the month(?). I had a quick look through my Marantz set up to see if it could be retuned to the AAC but I couldn't see how how it could be done. I also have a Revo Heritage which no doubt is the same.

They might just change the WMA stations over to MP3 as they did 2 weeks ago,  if so I don't think retuning is required.  I guess its wait & see

Just found some info posted on BBC www about the change from WMA

Will this change affect my internet radio?

Some radios will be affected, but the effects may differ depending on whether you’re listening live or on demand.

For live radio, each station will now be broadcast in the SHOUTcast mp3 format. This should work for most devices.

Unfortunately, we can’t use the same solution for on-demand programmes, so many internet radios will no longer be able to access on-demand programmes. We recommend you check your instruction booklet or contact the device manufacturer to check what formats your receiver supports.

Do I need to buy a new internet radio to listen to BBC Radio?

We think most internet radios will still be able to receive our live radio streams. Please check your instruction booklet or contact the device manufacturer to find out if your radio (or any new product you buy) supports HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) and Advanced Audio Coding (AAC).

HI,

It's been a while since I listened much to Internet Radio (pre Christmas), but I have been doing so over the past couple of days and don't appear to be able to connect to the Naim Radio channel. All other channels that I sometimes listen to (including the highest res versions of Linn Radio and Radio Paradise) play perfectly. BBC Channels all fine too.

Is there a problem with the Naim Radio Channel at the moment?

Thanks.

It was off when I tried yesterday,  but its OK now.

I can't listen Naim Radio, permanently dropping but all others are OK, any other have problem? Maurizio

Posted on: 05 February 2015 by Hmack

I can now connect to the Naim Radio channel. The signal isn't dropping, but the output is unlistenable - massive amounts of distortion and unwelcome digital artefacts.

Is anyone else experiencing similar problems?  All other radio channels I have tried appear to be ok.

YES!

Exactly the same! Later I check again (when sun rises up :-) ) and maybe we need to inform Naim as seems is related only to their radio channels.

Posted on: 06 February 2015 by Mike-B

Whoa,  agreed it is really UN-listenable now.

Off (dead) Wednesday,  sounded OK when I listened for 2 minutes yesterday but bicela & Hmack said it was bad.

Posted on: 06 February 2015 by Mike-B

Both Naim Radio streams are OK now

I confirm, it works fine. Ciao Mike!

As can I - the Naim Radio stream now sounds excellent again.

Thanks Naim.

And so is BBC6, updated in the "Naim Choice". Now on an 44.1kHz/128k mp3 feed.

Posted on: 06 February 2015 by Mike-B

####  !!!!!   all the Naim Choice BBC stations are all screwed up !!!!

R-3 is 32khz 56kb/s    WTF is that !!!

R-2 AAC is gone & its now MP3

C'mon Naim, we need it sorted & told what is available now & future

- & AAC if you please on Naims Choice.

Posted on: 06 February 2015 by nap-ster

I suspect the naming is wrong. BBCR6 shows up as 48k on Naim's Choice but when you select it it's actually 128k (mp3 though......).

Posted on: 06 February 2015 by Mike-B

I was reading the numbers off the station when they're selected

Posted on: 06 February 2015 by nap-ster

Yes, you are right with R3 32kHz. R2 on Naim's Choice is showing as 48k but I'm getting 128k as is R6. R4 on Naim's Choice is showing as 48k but I'm getting 32k. Marvellous stuff.
