What NAS are you using?

Please post what NAS and uPNP server you are using. Would you recommend it? Just wanted to know my options when I find my time to replace mine.

I use WD MyBook Live 1TB and 3TB. It is cheap and it works although I find the Twonky uPNP server does not display album art in high res and I can't view every folder arranged by track number. I can view that in album view but I want it on folder view. I have all my folder to be the name of the artist, then subfolder is the album name.

I don't think that Asset runs on any Synology nas at this time.

Asset won't run on Synology. You can use Minim or the server that comes with the hardware. Both are good, pros and cons. I use Minim. If you want Asset then a Qnap NAS is a good option.

What's wrong with the Synology Media Server?

I am just a bit puzzled by the architecture of many folders before arriving to an actual display of Albums with Album covers. It seems a bit "Microsoft-ish" to me. But, as I said, I'm in a discovery phase.

So I was just wondering if Asset had the same complicated architecture before arriving to the Albums page.

@Arnaud  It depends on the server you use - they all present slightly differently and some can be easily tweaked. You get used to them.

@Mike-B Nothing at all,. I very slightly prefer Minim, but as I say, pros and cons.

Hi Arnaud,  "Microsoft-ish"

Yes it can be all folders down to when you open the album.

TBH I like it that way, clean & neat & why I nearly always browse "By Folder" more than the other routes,

However it does not mean its always that way - I have DMA Menu Settings set to "Advanced Style" & get a list of 14 browsing options.

In there I can browse by Artist/Album & if I select an artist with a number of albums I get a list of all the artists albums showing the album art covers - not folder icons

Ditto browse by Genre/Artist/Album & Composer/Album.
