Frequent drop outs

Posted by: newmsie on 08 February 2015

hello

my mu-so suffers from random stoppages at least once every session.

It doesn't matter whether I am streaming Spotify or music from my NAS or even if I am watching TV or listening to Internet radio.

sound disappears for approx 1-2 minutes and then recommences.

has anyone found similar issues or heard of a fix for this problem?

Via wifi or lan (cable) connection? If via wifi then, as a test, try a lan cable to your router.

Hi Newmsie...

What is the network status light on the right hand side doing whilst the audio drops?

Cheers

Thanks for the replies.

Streaming is via wifi, but I don't think that is the issue.

The drop outs also occur when I am watching TV. The mu-so is connected to my STB via digital audio.

I haven't run USB music for a while but from memory it occurred here also. I have been experiencing it for several weeks.

tbh I'n not sure what you mean when yo say 'connected ...... via digital audio'. I'm assuming you mean the dropouts on the muso occur when you're watching tv at the same time? Yes? And the telly is using wifi as well? I think I'd still try a lan cable. If USB is an option then that's also a good try but I feel the lan cable test to be more informative since this is still streaming over the network path.

When you get your drop-outs - what is the network status indicator on the side showing? What colour? Is it flashing?

I'll check on that & advise.

Phil

I just observed the behaviour.

When the sound drops out the light is flashing orange/red.

The light goes purple when sound returns after about one minute.

Then light returns to solid white.

Phil

At the time the input was on digital.

Hi,

Then this is an issue which we are aware of and are working on - your routers DHCP lease renewal is causing the mu-so to restart (this only seems to happen with some routers).

As a 'workaround' until we release a fix then you could power down your mu-so *AND ROUTER* early one morning (at a time when you don't normally use the mu-so), then power up the router, let it come online (give it five minutes) and then power up the mu-so ... as the DHCP lease time is probably 24 hours then this will mean that the DHCP lease will renew when you aren't using the unit.

We expect to have a fix for this in the next mu-so firmware release.

Cheers

Or.... change the DHCP lease time to something daft like a week, but that's still a botch. Better, permanent, solution is give the mu-so a static IP address. 5 min fix and it stays fixed that way.
