Do you have both the Qute AND the laptop you're using for the updating connected to your home network? Preferably by ethernet cables to the same router or switch?

The laptop needs a connection to your home network AND a connection to the Qute.  And the Qute needs to be connected to the home network as well as the laptop.

To add to Bart's question, have you got the correct driver installed?

Posted on: 09 February 2015 by mezza

first of all thanks to you both for your reply if you mean the driver for the cable yes I believe so the qute is connected to my router by ethernet the laptop wireless I have googled fault 61 to no joy

Your laptop should be wired to the router also.  After that re-run the update.

This is not essential.  With a reliable wifi connection and an otherwise robust home network, it's fine if the laptop is connected to the home network by wifi.  I've done it both ways (laptop via ethernet cable, and via wifi), and they both worked the same for me.

yes I have updated the unitiqute several times in the past with the laptop been wireless I have sen an email to Naim support guess ill have to have it looked at I have re-run the update several times with the same result I don't understand why when the unitiqute is etherneted up its not found on the network

I had the same issue with my uniti and 4.1. I re-installed 3.22 and everything back to normal. Could be something wrong with the update ...

If you are stuck with the "fault 61" message, try the following:

- switch device off

- run the update tool and have it search for your device

- switch device on and do a factory reset

the update tool should redetect your device and offer to re-install a firmware

Hi thanks for your post, I tried doing what you suggest but can not get into settings on the qute  and can not reinstall update 3.22 I am sending it into Naim this week for repair hope its not too much as its out of warranty have been told worse case £265 + vat + carriage but I would have the 24/192 board wish I had never tried doing the 4.1 but was only keeping the firmware up to date as Naim recommend

This is really unacceptable IMHO. Updating should not be this long winded, difficult and more importantly risky to the end user. If you have to pay then you are out of pocket and without your system .  I have had no issues updating like this but your heart is in your mouth until it reboots.

My two peneth FWIW

Thanks Ing

it will be away for up to 6 weeks that's the worst part  lol hate being without my music and the cost of repair to boot, I just hear myself saying if it ain't broke don't fix it , I have updated firmware before without any problems until now

regards

I think the above has been put in the wrong thread?

Not sure anymore but I think that to do the factory reset, you switch the device off and then switch it back on while pressing the input button.

After a couple of seconds, the device asks to press the mute button to perform the factory reset.

Maybe someone else in the forum can confirm or provide the front panel factory reset procedure ...

Hello mezza,

I do have the same problem with "fault 61" (details described in https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...33#46478590849404333&nbsp) with my uniti 1.

Do you have a hint for me what I could try to unbrick the device? What did you do to get back your qute?

Thank you,

Gert

Hi Gert

I have had to send it into Naim for repair worse case I have been told is £265 + vat plus carriage but for that I would have the 24/192 board

Posted on: 25 February 2015 by gert

(For the new status of my uniti check the other thread linked above.)

I thought about upgrading to the new streaming hardware, too, independently of the firmware upgrade problem. So I would like to ask if you did hear a difference in sound quality and if the device response more quickly after the hardware upgrade? Is it worth the 400€ I had to pay? (This certainly is a subjective thing. But what do you think?)

Posted on: 25 February 2015 by mezza

Hi Gert

I don't know if ill be having the 24/192 board ill have to see what Naim say the cost of repair is if I do have to have the new board fitted ill let you know when I get my uitiqute back
