X2 Speaker Support.....an idea...good or bad?

Posted by: Arnsider on 09 February 2015

Hi all...I'm sort of following on from a recent post about my Kudos X2's. These are driven by a Qute2 and are now starting to sing a lot more. Do need careful placement though. I think part of my initial caution with these was the amount of bottom end they produced which I probably wasn't used to! OK...now to my idea...

The X2's are quite small in stature....So I was thinking of possibly standing them on large oak slabs (beams) to raise their height off the floor. Has anyone tried this before? Have thought about spikes in the oak to floor...and spikes from the speakers into spike feet on the slabs or just even spike them into the wood.....I have a solid wooden floor..

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas...is this just barmy?...Reason is that I have a sofa in the room which is in front of the X2's...not close ..but would prefer if the drivers fired into the room unimpeded.

Any thoughts or comments appreciated...cheers

Perhaps concrete or granite are better than oak - higher mass to decouple from the floor.

But the real problem is the position of the sofa, and the real answer is to move it; however practicalities sometimes get in the way of HiFi if space is very limited.
