Stream directly from laptop OR thunderbolt external drive?

Hello --

Recently purchased a SuperNait2 and am going to use one of the inputs for a DAC V1. The DAC V1 will be hooked up, via USB cable, to a MacBookPro running iTunes. I can have more room to store music files on an external thunderbolt 2TB drive than on the laptop. Will it make any difference, in terms of performance for the DAC V1, if my iTunes library is on the external disk, rather than on the MacBookPro?

But it would if the Thunderbolt HD was plugged into a MacMini dedicated solely for playing music.

thunderbolt is vastly faster than your hard disc. It will be idling for much of the time
