SJB (allowable 3 letter acronym)

I don't think you should allow TLAs.

DSD, DoP, SPDIF

It's catchy, reminds me of :

I make a point of expanding acronyms back to their original form.  Mentioning Syndicat des Constructeurs d'Appareils Radiorécepteurs et Téléviseurs always goes down well in Currys.

I'm intrigued by DSD - many seem to want it, many don't know what it is - all demand Naim supply it.

It may turn out to be Spotify. Something you desperately wanted - which crumbled to dust in your hands as you look for the new horizon.

and what about DXD?

Seriously though, all the "native" DSD downloads I have bought are very impressive (as they should be at the price)

I don't feel there has been a general clamouring for Naim to DSD - other than from a few dedicated DSD fans on this forum and no doubt elsewhere. Clearly DSD has a certain cachet in the market currently - so I would have thought the recent announcement of the N272 supporting DSD64 was probably more a case of being seen to keep up with the competition - i.e. you would be criticised if you have didn't have it - but I suspect most users might get  one or two DSD files out of curiosity but other than that leave it alone - unless of course it gets a lot cheaper than it is today.

Agreed Simon. I took advantage of some free sample DSD downloads from Blue Coast Music when I was assessing the DACs and the sound quality was superb but the amount of music available on DSD and the price don't make it a practical consideration for me ATM.

I still wonder what really DSD brings to the party but I think Naim couldn't ignore this audiophile market trend.
I would like to hear from Naim what we can expect from this format....

Being able to rip it from my SACDs (hybrid) without an ancient PS3 would be a good start!
