Personal Finance Software
Posted by: Dr Hyde on 24 February 2015
Any recommendations for personal finance software which will accept Natwest downloads?
I have been using Quicken 2004, but my Windows XP laptop has died, and Quicken 2004 won't work on newer versions of Windows.
Don't mind what it costs, preferably for Mac, but Windows 7 would do.
thanks
I'm using Quicken 2008 with Windows 8.1 but it's an import from Americaland. It works perfectly however.
Not sure if this is the answer to your question Dr Hyde, but on the recommendation of my accountant, I use a cloud-based program called FreeAgent. It's utter genius! As a self-employed person, I used to waste far too much time on book-keeping, now I spend a max of an hour a month, and I have to pay my accountant less because he does top-level staff by accessing my FA account.
it costs me £18 a month (a free month's trial is available) and one can upload all kinds of files - CSV, QIF, QBO, QFX, MS Money, etc etc (I use RBS downloads which are the same as NatWest ones IIRC).
Give it a go...
I would like to stay with Quicken, and they now do Mac and mobile. Did you just download Quicken from the Intuit US website, or buy it on disc and have it posted from US?
The new download is 80 USD, so not keen to take the risk that it won't work, unless you can confirm the dowload worked for you.
FreeAgent's £18 a month is too much for my simple housekeeping accounting needs.
I got an american friend to download it. It works fine. I run accounts in three different currencies. But it doesn't do European downloads (not something I care about).
I use Microsoft Money Sunset
I think this is the correct link http://www.microsoft.com/en-GB...etails.aspx?id=20738
Free. works on all Windows I think.
No help or updating, some online features no longer work, but great for day to day.
donuk sunny downtown York
I also use Microsoft Money Sunset.
We had paid versions of Money for years, and when they dropped the product the final version was made availbe for free as there were some issues running the paid version on later versions of Windows.
It's an excellent piece of software, Microsoft seem good at discontinuing some of their better products.
It won't download from your bank though.

Thanks for the input. I finally decided on iBank. It downloads statements from Natwest to either my Mac or iPad, which are sync'd through Cloud.
working perfectly so far.
I am using Windows 7 and can still get Quicken 2004 to work perfectly. You need to run in XP compatibility mode and from memory there are 3 missing DLL files (try google for which ones) which you need to copy from the Quicken installation disk into the Windows folder and into the Quicken program.
I am hoping I can still get it to work in Windows 10 when it comes as I think it is great software and I have nearly 20 years of financial history on it!
I am using Acountz Home Accountihg. It is very good. You can import Quicken files and I think it will work with Natwest. It is not free but it may well be worth having A look at .
