A streaming service comparison

To quote re: Spotify
"This is the most widely available music streaming platform that still offers a huge range of songs at a reasonable price. It's hard to see why anyone would want to shift. But with a streaming top end of 320kbit/s some might want even higher quality. That's where services like Qobuz come in".
Hard to disagree.

As usual, a rather superficial (broad but not deep) comparison. No mention of gapless playback (vital for classical), nor access to CD booklets. Qobuz score highly here.
I have Spotify Premium and am listening to Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti Deluxe Edition at this point in time. Qobuz has just released Physical Graffiti (HD Remastered Deluxe Edition). I do not subscribe to Qobuz but with their sampler I was able to do a one to one comparison between the Spotify and Qobuz offerings and have to say that Qobuz won hands down. Just goes to show that the recorded medium delivered to the hardware is fundamental to the ultimate experience. I believe the Qobuz sample was CD quality i.e. 16 bit 44.1 khz, as opposed to 320 kbps for Spotify. Am transmitting wirelessly from my MacBook Air to the Muso.
I don't know how this goes for other recordings but it is worth a try and easy to do a comparison. Ah, the joys of streaming services.

I noticed in the article that it specifically mentioned the Lep Zeppelin catalogue being available on Tidal now, as though that were a stand out feature. In fact, it was simultaneously made available to most of the major streaming services. I've been listening to the Deluxe Remastered versions of all their albums via my Qobuz subscription over the last few days, and it's been great fun. The joys of streaming indeed.
Just bought the 24/96 version of Physical Graffit from Qobuz, and it sounds amazing. Highly recommended.
