Digital Out

Posted by: Jota on 28 February 2015

Hi.

I'm trying to set up the digital out on my UQ2 but seem to be having an issue.

The connector I'm using is an adaptor sent out by the HIFI shop

then a cable from that to the DAC.  Digital Output is enabled and I've tried switching between Native and 24bit but it's not working.  Anything I'm missing here?

You don't mention the DAC you are using but i take it you have the right input selected ?

Can you try a different cable ?

It's an active pair of speakers with an inbuilt DAC and it only has a digital or analogue in.  It's definitely in the digital.  Strangely my CD player worked.

Well thats two things ruled out (cable and DAC). When you fitted the BNC>RCA adapter did you push and then turn the collar to lock it. Just one more thing, in native mode (matching the file bit depth / sampling rate rather than fixing at 24/96) are you using Red book standard files - 16bit 44.1Khz. What can the DAC in your active speakers handle ?

Regarding the adaptor, yeah it was pushed right in and turned to lock.  I took it out and redid the procedure and it does lock securely.

I was also playing red book CD rips in native mode.  I tried streaming internet radio too but nothing worked.

The DAC handles 16/24bits up to 192.

Hmm - sounds like you've checked out all you can. Looks like something is not right on the UQ2. Good luck.

Thanks for the help james.

No probs - just looked at the manual and the dig out setup is the same as my old NDX so as long as you've enabled it there is not much more to do. May be worth trying another BNC>RCA adapter (did you not get one in the box with the UQ2 - my NDX came with one) just to rule that out.

Is it defo a digital cable you are using, if its a standard phono it might be a no go.

It's a proper cable.  The HIFI shop provided it and it worked connected to my Marantz CD players digital out.

You could ask at the shop if you could bring the UQ2 to them (with a USB pen drive) and see if it'll send to a DAC there.
