Does HDX recognize different versions of the same album?

Hi, I have original and re-issue versions of many albums because of dynamic range differences.

For instance original from 1988 with catalogue number 4711 and re-issue of the same album from 1998 with catalogue number 4722.

It appears to me, HDX is overwriting the stored version with whatever is coming from the CD drive with the same AMG name. I am not even sure which version is stored right now as the database always says its the 1988 CD but from the sound I can tell is the re-issue.

Is there a way to have two different versions of the same album? Cheers, Chris

Right, got it. One solution is to rename the first CD i.e. "Title (1998)" and after ripping the second CD name that one "Title (1988)" and then you have two different versions, otherwise HDX will overwrite.

Cheers,

Chris

You got it in one Chris, its all down to how you tag the different versions.

I wrote about this a few weeks ago -- the Naim servers are not particularly adept at recognizing different versions of the same album.  I don't know if it's a database lookup issue, or what.  It may well be the databases used don't recognize the differences either.

I don't believe the issue lies with the Naim servers, but the database which they're looking at...
