Put it this way, Before the change, if u sell it the new owner would factor in the extra cost he needs for the app as you cannot transfer it to him and is part if a deadweight loss. Now the new owner would embed this value into your unit and you don't have anymore deadweight loss..... At least it made me feel better thinking this way......

Life changes, business models change. I didn't buy my Uniti with any promise of an App but I completely understand folks feeling a bit upset about it now being free after paying for it, but maybe it should have been free from the start. It's not like the Uniti is a particularly cheap piece of kit.

Now, Naim also provided a hardware and firmware update for me (return to base) for compatibility with app and the new iThing USB interface totally free of charge including carriage and that must have cost them and for that I think their customer support was great, but, even so I still feel a bit agrieved about the change in pricing policyon the app when I had to pay for it.

Worse thing is that most people remember the negatives more than the positives and it's easier to pi$$ folks off than please them.

But yes, feel just a little dented that I had to pay for the app and now it's free.

The change in policy on charging for apps reflects the feedback we have recieved, the price of the products goes up today in the UK and this now includes the app price.

I recently paid for the n stream app too. Completely out of order. The app joins my n-link cable which I used a few times and then became obsolete when my unity needed an upgrade 2 months after buying it. Naim are not thinking all this through. Next time a naim accessory is launched I'll wait.

The n- link cable was a bit of a fiasco which could have been avoided with a touch of chutzpath courtesy of a discount offer on new equipment like £40 off your next Naim purchase or free upgrades etc etc.

You cannot offer something that doesn't exist yet (digital iPod connectivity at the NaimUniti's release over two years ago, or, a free app not even under development).

Surely it's just Naim moving on. I bought the n-Link cable for my Uniti at first and then bought the App for my iPhone after the Uniti was updated for a digital stream via USB.

The n-Link cable is now redundant - but I don't feel ripped off.

Things change. I've had enjoyment and am still enjoying the Uniti.

I wouldn't go back to my car dealer if they suddenly offered some new package on a vehicle I'd bought two months earlier.

It's life.

I really don't think anyone is being ripped off.
