Andreus Scholl versus Sam Smith?

Sam Smith

Andreus Scholl

Who is the greater singer and certainly able to show the real human condition in music?

I am sure you will know that Sam Smith is enough to make me want to slit my wrists, but where do you stand?

Is Andreus the pretentious one or is it Sam?

Certainly one is!

OK, cool it.

As an aside, Caroline Myss is in town and she'd sort you out in a few minutes - She would say that things are what they are, and nothing is personal, so get over it.

Getting back on topic, if pressed on this particular one, I'd say that Sam Smith has talent and that his award was likely deserved.  It's not my thing really, but my girlfriend's youngest daughter likes his songs and she has a good sense of what she likes and most importantly, why she likes certain music.  I had the CD in the car for a few trips and I thought it was good.

Andreas Scholl is also obviously talented, but also very different to Mr Smith.  To say one is "better" than the other is frankly pointless

Where were we?  Get over it...

Dear Richard,

As with one or two others here I have completely tired of the way the Forum is these days.

Please will you formally close my membership, and by that I mean completely dislocate it rather than simply suspend.

I see no prospect of the kind of fun we used to have sharing enthusiasms as of ten and more years ago in the future.

Yours sincerely, George Johnson

PS: My direct email link has evaporated, or else I would have sent this privately, but under the conditions it hardly seems that important now. My email is the same, but there is no particular reason why you should send me privately on this. GJ

That was entertaining.  I'd never heard of Sam Smith until reading this, and my experience of his work is around 30 seconds from the link George posted, and a few other random things youtube displayed in relation.  Doesn't do much for me personally, quite boring.  However, I can find plenty of horrific rubbish, way beyond Sam Smith level, when I need something to slit my wrists to.

Dear George,

Just like I said the last time, and the time before that etc.., the forum is what you make it.

It's also probably not a bad place to study and learn all about human behaviour...

Take care dear George.  I'll lock up and do as you ask but I'll leave a set of keys for you under the mat...
