It must be the full moon (hard drive failures)

The hdd in my uServe died last week, and it's been shipped off to Audio Plus.

I feel good as the uServe has been backing up regularly to my Synology nas (2 x 2tb WD Red drives).

The other day, right before I went out of town for business, I log onto the Synology and see a message that it's in "degraded mode."  I believe that means that 1 out of the 2 raid drives has failed.

What. The. Heck? as we say.

(And I can't seem to get into the Synology analysis/repair utilities in Storage Manager -- I get an odd 'connection failed - please check your network settings' error that I've googled but can't get past.  I may have to pull ALL the data off, and then replace both drives   )

Hope not.

I had a Drobo before moving to the Synology a couple of years ago ...meant I had to rebuild the content from a series of USB HDDs. It worked but took a week to do it.

Best wishes!

USB 3.0 is a bit faster . . . it won't take me a week.  At least I've got it all backed up
