Let's hope it's finally over for the racist prat. Will Cameron's dodgy mate survive? What was the 'fracas'?
It is interesting that there has been no mention of the police investigating an alleged assault.
I wonder how many arts and music programs on BBC 4 and BBC 2 Top Gear has indirectly funded.
I wonder how many arts and music programs on BBC 4 and BBC 2 Top Gear has indirectly funded.
Is that relevant? From what I've heard, in the media so far, too many people seem ready to come to a verdict before hearing all the facts of the case.
Dave
Anyway. Was it a punch? A shove? Was anyone hurt?
We don't know.
Anyone know how much Dicky Betts and the Allman Brothers Band have made out of his tenure?
Hope it's lots.
As someone else pointed out, everyone thought Have I Got News would flop after Deayton was fired. Actually, it improved.

If it's a simple physical asault then almost certainly not. He will have to go.If things are less clear and blame harder to aportion the BBC will have a very difficult decision in to which the contribution Top Gear makes to the broader BBC will need to be balanced against the potential harm.
If it is proven, with or without any criminal or civil suit, that one employee assaulted another for no compelling reason then the assailant should be dismissed.
Whatever the pros or cons of this particular incident, given JC's previous history, it'll probably be a step too far for the BBC. Any seculation on who could take over a very successful programme. Not that I watch Top Gear but I know JC is a fan of the VW Golf so he can't be all bad.
Dave
John Prescott survived, and we know for sure that he pulled a punch.
Yes but the video of the incident showed that Prescott was first assaulted by the other party and could justifiably claim to be defending himself.

We do not know exactly what happened, one scenario may be that the producer person gave JC a sarcastic reply and JC retaliated by punching him, I am not condoning what JC did but I can understand JC's reaction. Every one seems to be lynching him without a trial by knowing his past faults, if the jury knew the defendants criminal past before or during trial by default the judge would have to rule at least a mistrial.

That wasn't self defence, it was blatant retaliation!

Fair enough, Chris

and fully justified !
he should now leave television entertainment and go into politics.
As a candidate for the Monster Raving Loony Party perhaps?
Dave
More like transport minister for UKIP .
Seems Cameron's 'empty chair' problem could now so easily be solved.
Chris
He's a dick who can be funny occasionally but he's been taking the piss out of the BBC for some time now. If he actually did punch a colleague then he has to go in my opinion. And without any million dollar pay off.
Can the lynch mobs retreat yet?
James May did say that but then he also said he was not present at the incident...
Here's some of the stuff he's been up to. Read together I find it's not at all funny. It reeks of public schoolboy arrogance and I think the BBC should at least be giving him a real kick up the arse and a REAL final warning.

This has greatly brightened my week.
The latest is that apparently he reported himself over the incident.

But then not everyone posesses the same sense of humour. Some of those 'incidents' had a couple of hundred complainants, that's like background noise, someone somewhere is always complaining.
Closing in on a million for the petition, including at least one from Argentina.
The reasons/comments are pretty consistent...

I much prefer the petition for Death to bring back Terry Pratchett although, sadly, I'm not optimistic it will work

Not quite 850,000! But who are these people? On what basis are they making their judgement? Do they know more about the incident than the rest of us? Would they have signed a petition to reinstate Jimmy Saville if he was still alive?

Yes that's true and it seems it's ok for some to throw punches. Those with a left stance ie the BBC seem to forget others indiscretions when it suits.
