Clarkson suspended

Let's hope it's finally over for the racist prat. Will Cameron's dodgy mate survive? What was the 'fracas'?

Yes that's true and it seems it's ok for some to throw punches. Those with a left stance ie the BBC seem to forget others indiscretions when it suits.

Jeremy Clarkson is a BBC employee, John Prescott was not.

You don't have a "left stance" when you employ Clarkson.

The man is just a bully and a loudmouth who claims he is being victimised simply because he says aloud what the common man (like you and me) really thinks but dare not say. The world is full of them these days.

At best, they are relatively harmless, and possibly entertaining for some (Clarkson), at the other extreme, you have people like Jean-Marie Le Pen. Same basic philosophy.

What I can't understand is why so many people should think fit to support an uncouth, boorish, but very astute... man (I don't think you're allowed to be rude on the forum).

Currently the BBC seems to be getting the blame for everything that goes wrong in the world. You get the PM and Culture Secretary making statements that partially support him. And the BBC has just given us Wolf Hall. A new Poldark dramatisation has just started. Is there no gratitude.

Dave

PS If Saints lose at Chelsea tomorrow I'll can blame it on the BBC.

Odd that Top Gear was shown on BBC3 this evening.  A repeat of last week's episode. Cancelling the remaining episodes of this series is a huge over reaction from the BBC. If I was to have a "fracas" with one of my colleagues I would expect to be disciplined or fired but they wouldn't throw all my existing work in the bin.

Here in Canada there's a radio show called 'Q' a really good arts radio program.  It's star presenter was found to allegedly 'beat' women for sexual pleasure.  He was fired.  Before the details emerged as to why he was fired there was an uproar of support for him.

Many predicted that the show was done, it couldn't possibly survive with out him.  Guess what ? It has.  The truth about where the true talent lay quickly came out.  His 'signature' verbal essays were written by members of his production team.  A new permanent replacement has been named after months of guest hosts.

For TG, May and Hammond ought to present the show with a guest host, maybe from the Australian, US or German versions of TG.  In the meantime find another host.  Have the Stig replace him ;-)

They should show the remaining episodes.  JC should be fired if he has committed an act of gross misconduct.

Or they could sack Clarkson and re-employ him as the Stig

You are judging when it is not your place to judge.

Did anyone on the top gear team make a complaint?

I should expand ... if after all of the appropriate human resources steps required during such an allegation of misconduct are complete, and it is concluded that JC did commit an act of Gross Misconduct, then he should be treated as per BBC policy.  Which I suspect is dismissal with cause.

I personally don't have an issue with JC, except that over the last couple of years his ego seems to be growing more than I'm comfortable watching.  On the other hand, I enjoy JC's car reviews over RH.

On another note, it would be interesting to see how the expedition specials will go following the Argentina affair.  The reality of seeing so many people involved in the endeavour may spoil the illusion of future events when they suggest that it's just three blokes, three cars and a camera/sound guy.

What's William Wollard up to these days ?

Posted on: 15 March 2015 by Bananahead

The foreign trips are obviously staged but that doesn't stop them being loads of fun to watch.

All three presenters are understood to have contracts that finish at the end of the month and I do wonder if JC reporting the incident himself is part of contract negotiations or publicity for a new channel.

He's been busy changing his surname from "Woollard"

By default William Wollard has become semi famous.  I do feel sorry for him (unless he is involved in some kind of JC's devious publicity stunt).

The reasons/comments are pretty consistent...

I much prefer the petition for Death to bring back Terry Pratchett although, sadly, I'm not optimistic it will work

ARE YOU SO SURE ABOUT THAT?

SORRY, BEEN ON HOLIDAY.

The Telegraph and Mirror are reporting that he's going to be sacked later today.

Well there's a surprise. Will the sycophantic hero worshippers take to the streets? Will we need to man the barricades of civil justice?

Looks like he's gone then - or at least, his contract won't be renewed (it was up in a month's time I believe). I expect he'll end up on Sky, or ITV. Perhaps he'll be the next Adrian Chiles.

I wonder if all those people who signed that petition, and BBC-bashers like the Mail, Murdoch, Guido Fawkes etc feel now? Is suspect if anyone else had behaved as JC did, they would be vcalling for them to be sacked. Funny how there's one rule for some, and another rule for others...

Poor man, he had a split lip. I'd definitely go to A&E for that. I'd need to be reassured that I'd not suffered concussion or whiplash.

Jesus.

Jesus.

My dog gave me a split lip when I bent down to put his collar on the other morning (an accident)

The last time I went to A&E in France it resulted in a bill of €350 so I toughed it out with a little cotton wool and some out of date Witch Hazel. The above cost does not include an ambulance ride btw!

The whole thing is nuts.

Good riddance. Interesting though that racism is tolerated but violence is not.

'Sticks and stones....' perhaps?

Wonder where he'll pop up next?  Don't think he'll be without offers

Posted on: 25 March 2015 by hungryhalibut

Ukip maybe?

Posted on: 25 March 2015 by MDS

Well, he'd probably win in some seats.  His 'manifesto' would be interesting, perhaps along the lines of Al Murray's in the constituency where Farage is standing: brick-up the Channel Tunnel, deploy five squadrons of Spitfires, just in case etc etc

Brilliant!

It's so useful to have an eye-witness account!
