Withdrawal symptoms
Posted by: PaulH on 24 March 2015
So what do I do to counter the withdrawal symptoms of not being able to listen to my system for the past two weeks and another week or so to go before I can listen again???
Having the kitchen re-modelled so a lot of storage is in the music room and there is a lot of dust about (fear not, the only things that were adequately covered were the system and the speakers so no dust there....).
Tried the iPod but it just doesn't give the same quality.
Do I go and try and get a shop demo of something I have no intention of buying just so I can listen again????
Am I beyond help??
So, how do you cope when you're away on holiday?
Try putting some LTJ Bukem progression session albums on, sit back close your eyes and re-connect with the Ether.

Hmmm - might give it a go, it's worth a try right?
Seriously?
I would just try to be patient and or though alternative types of music that you are not familiar with can help too.
I have found (when sending kit off) in the mean time a good high quality portable radio can do wonders to help alleviate any cravings but i'm not suggesting to go out and buy one if you do not all ready have one to hand.

Go on holiday then.
I wish!
When the builders have finished I think I will need a holiday!
Get a life?
Cruel Lionel.
Buy a MuSo. It helped me get through a large decorating project recently.
Clock radios have become pretty good nowadays...
Can I recommend at this point, once again.....
Seriously, just for a moment on the clock radio thing, I bought a Pure Contour D1 as a Christmas present for my parents. It surprised the cr@p out me. No, it doesn't do hifi as we all know it, but for an all in one sub £200...thing, very impressive.

It's brilliant. I had to drill out the headphone output to fit the Audeze cans, but the unit drives them easily, with the barest hint of distortion.
work remotely from your local naim dealers place… bribe them with donuts every morning and turn down the volume when a perspective client wanders in… it helped me...
or
get portable hi rez player and some awesome headphones… this new portable rig will also save you when traveling… easier to pack than a super unity and totem model 1's when traveling (which I have done) and you can listen while on the plane!….
Unfortunately there is no chance of working remotely at the moment.
The pure clock radio/cd player in the bedroom has been brought into play a few times but it's a slight(!) downgrade on the CD5XS/SN2/ProAc D20Rs .
There is light at the end of the tunnel though - by this weekend, the wraps will be off and audio joy will be restored.
That sounds like a very capable system Paul, now I understand your predicament.

Indeed it is - and I bought some new Chord speaker jumper leads that I want to try out too.
The light at the end of the tunnel is nearing - Should be ok to listen on Saturday....
......... it could be the light of another repairman coming down the tracks

If it's a repairman that would be good as long as he clears a space first
