Time Display
Posted by: Wheretonow on 25 March 2015
I have recently joined the Naim fraternity - 4 weeks ago - with a Uniti 2. For several weeks the time display showed correct time in sydney (aus) AEDT. Then it fell back one hour. There has been no change to daylight saving etc. The Uniti displays in settings (clock and alarm) 10 hrs ahead of GMT. I have read many comments from people about daylight saving issues etc to no avail. When I try to adjust (in change Time Zone) to +11 or in fact any other, the change does not hold. the uniti always reverts to a flashing +- 10. In advanced settings there are two time servers. Selecting either has no effect. I have tried switching off the equipment without effect.
I do not think there is a network problem. I am wirelessly connected and have no issue with internet radio. I have wirelessly connected to the one router, a Mac computer, Ipad, air printer and the Uniti 2. Is this at all significant. Note, no problem in using the Naim app for selecting function, volume etc.
Can anyone make a suggestion before I return unit to shop (140 Kms away) as advised by retailer?

HH,
Just opened the naim app and swapped from my NDS to UQ. This brought up an option to adjust to daylight saving time. Perhaps this is now being done via the app instead of the UQ/SU settings menu.
Unfortunately I pressed "yes" and the clock on my UQ has gone back an hour. Looks like another factory reset is required.
BTW my time servers are: 0.pool.ntp.org and 1.pool.ntp.org

It's all going well then...

OK. The "daylight savings" option on the app seems to get triggered following a factory reset.
I changed the Time Zone setting manually via the UQ's settings menu so this time I selected "No" when I got the app message and have now got the correct time on the UQ.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

My SU showed the correct time this morning so automatically added the hour - using beta firmware.

Do you only have the four options under the clock setting, or five?

Mine didn't, I'm still on BST, or whatever it's called these days.

Experimented with changing time zones which I can do quite easily after the latest factory reset but couldn't do after I'd responded "yes" to the daylight savings prompt on the app. It looks like the app setting locks the Adjust Time Zone option and can only be unlocked by a factory reset and responding "no" to the app prompt.

I think this confirms the situaltion.
Thanks JS.

Is the factory reset the 'reset all settings' option? I was a bit wary of that in case my fixed IP address disappeared along with all the input settings. I'd rather have the wrong time.

But if you don't have the time zone option you are snookered.

Yes that is the reset option.
My UQ2 is on my wireless network and I had to reenter the network password following the reset. I've just checked on the router homepage and the UQ2 IP address is still the same.

This happened to me the last time the clocks changed here in the UK, and when I upgraded to get the Spotify option for the Unitilite. It's very clunky and to say the least, inconvenient to have to do a factory reset every time the clocks change. Have tried the adjust time zone option with no success.....Will wait a couple of days before doing anything, & will listen out to see if the problem gets solved a more simple way

Just for the record I'm having the same problem , I can't adjust the time forward 1 hour , going through the procedure only to find it still 1 hour behind , just glad I'm not on my own , it is only a small glitch hopefully

Same here with the Uniti 2 incl. Spotify. Any change to the Time Zone other than +1 is not being saved. Need +2.
@Naim staff: Please fix asap.

Another Uniti2 + Spotify upgrade where the time reset will not hold. Glad it's not just me...
I won't do a factory reset as I don't have time to deal with all the potential catastrophes that might arise from that...

Same problem here in the netherlands. Cant get it at the right time on my UQ2.
firmware fix??

Easier to ask the government to avoid changing timezone?
Posted on: 29 March 2015 by hungryhalibut
There is, from time to time, talk of the UK moving to European time, so summer time would be GMT +2. That may be a challenge too far....

I didn't even notice my unit had a clock.....
Posted on: 29 March 2015 by blythe
I guess it's something to do with some zones changing at different times to others and some not at all....

Iconcur with your findings and my varios streamers now show the correct time.
However the factory rest involved a lot of reconfiguring.
The problem seems to be that daylight saving has not been correctly implemented and the app should never have been released in a form that encourages users to opt for daylight saving.
Naim now appear to be catering for a wider customer base and they need to up their game re-software.

same thing here in Belgium: can't set to new time...
I managed to change my microwaves clock without a factory reset, why can't I do the same with my UQ2 & SU?

Same here with UL. It is a quite disappointing experience having bought my first Naim product 2 months ago and already facing the second factory reset caused by malfunctioning firmware. That is a no-go for a product in this segment.

Resetting the time on my UnitiLite and SuperUniti is very straightforward. Go into tools (spanner on remote) then in set up select clock and alarm and then adjust time zone - all done in a matter of seconds. However I have not done the recent updates so still sitting contentedly on 3.22 - not sure if that makes a difference.

Yes, it used to be this simple before the update.
Now, you still can adjust the time zone but you don't can enter/confirm anymore....
