Multiple folder tagging with dBpoweramp

Posted by: Checkthisout68 on 06 April 2015

Hi,

lets say I have 10 albums of the same artist in my download area. How can I edit the genre Tag for all of them in one step? I am using DBpoweramp latest version under Mac OS. Right one, I can only changed the tagging folder by folder...

Thanks,

Chris

Send an enquiry to dBpoweramp forum,  very helpful peeps live there.

You might want to try Metadatics. It costs but I think it's more suited to rigorous tagging operations then db which is mostly a ripper that one can adjust tags on. I could be wrong of course and possibly what you want to do isn't supported by any tagging apps. Would be good to know as I've considered the same thing (Like changing genres across multiple folders etc).

Oh, I think Mp3Tag would work as well, but I always hated the UI on my mac and it seemed slow as molasses. Best for Windows I think. Any other tagging software options?

Hi again, I am testing Metadatics right now. It can read multiple folders into a list view. There you can more easier sort by any criteria and start mass changes. However, it also crashes if there is at least one folder which prevents any tag changes for whatever reason. Difficulty is you need to  know these problematic folders upfront, because otherwise you have to read in the entire tree again, which takes a while for hundreds of tracks.

I will perform a number of changes, then update the database through n-serve and see how it works.

If I needed to do this in dBpoweramp right now, or didn't want to learn a new application, I would move all the files into one folder, batch change the tags and move them back to their original locations. Quick and pretty foolproof. Or do it with copies.
