Macbook Air as streaming client for HDX

Posted by: Checkthisout68 on 26 April 2015

Hi, I am trying to find a way using my Macbook in my office to stream content from my HDX in the living room. Is there a software solution? I am connecting my Macbook output to a small compact HIFI in my office which is good enough for me. But I want to be able to access 24bit and 192khz FLAC files too.

So far VLC media player can see my HDX but I cannot open any subfolders.

Is there a streaming client software that supports all formats and can do the trick under MacOS?

Thanks,

Chris

Check out J.River which should be able to connect the the UPnP server on the HDX.

How did you set up JRiver on the mac to find the HDX as a server?  I never did find that setting.

Hi Bart, in fact I did not. I made JRiver adding the backup folder on my NAS to its library. That way I am not even streaming from the HDX but as my HDX backup runs every night, I am all fine.

All I have to do is to manually copy over downloaded tracks to the NAS as HDX does not backup the download folder.
