HDX connection vexes me again!

Posted by: Nagual on 01 May 2015

Took me months of introspection to sort a similar problem last year so now i will come straight to the fountain of knowledge that is the forum.

My apartments have finally been kitted out with high speed fibre optic broadband and because i've chosen the phone service to go with it i have to use their router at the top of the chain and not the Airport Express i had configured previously thus resulting in a new network being set up. The new router will be dishing out the DCHP addresses.

So far i've got the fibre up and running and both my AE units now in bridge mode and extending the new network, the nas (QNAP 451) is happily online and i can see the HDX on there also. The music store on the HDX is online but none of the other shares are.  I can access them on the NDX5S in my second system running Access on the NAS but cannot figure out why the HDX is failing to take to the new network. Answers on a postcard pls.  Networking just aint my think.  Any advise greatly received.  Thanks in advance,

The ip addresses for the network shares have changed, and the HDX doesn't realize that; it's looking for them on their old ip addresses.

Probably easiest to delete them, and then add them again.  See if that works!

Thanks Bart that makes sense but sadly doesn't work.  When readding a share it insists on a value for Hostname, IP address and Share yet wont allow me to input the details required

Nagual,

E mail Phil Harris at Naim on Monday and he will get into your system and sort it.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks Bill, i had a quick email conversation with Phil friday evening as he was heading off on his holidays.  He suggested the new router was assigning IP addresses in a different range from my apple AE.  As usual he was right .  i know next to nothing about IT but managed to log on to the new router and change the DCHP range to one that mirrors what the apple uses. No instant success but then i followed Bart's steps again and hey presto I'm back! So the rest of the weekend will be downloading HD albums super fast and adding them in to my HD share.  Thanks all for your assistance once again
