Naim app report "can't play" some songs in playlist

Posted by: AYLW on 01 May 2015

Hello,

I am using Naim app 4.4 and created a few playlists.  One day when I tried to play one of the playlist, Naim app displayed "can't play" some of the songs and skipped to the the ones that it can play.  I tried to power off the NDX streamer, clearing the UPnP cache, clear image cache, re-index the media library but still cannot fix the problem.  The song however can be played if not accessed from the playlist.  I tried to recreate the playlist and it works fine for a few days and the same thing happened, very annoying.  Actually this problem exist using the n-stream app too.  Anyone has this problem also and anyway to prevent it from happening?  Thank you.

Best regards,

Alan

Hi MartinKocurek, it is not the case.  They are still playable when not accessed from the playlist.

Hi AYLW,

A few things can cause "can't play"

- The path in the UPnP browser to the track has changed since the playlist was saved

- The UPnP server rebuilt its internal database and the URL to the track is no longer valid

- The file format is incompatible with streamer

- The UPnP firmware has bene upgraded and the browser menu structure has changed

If none of the above sound likely then re-create the playlist in exactly the same way, so if you added a track from "my music > albums > album x > track y" follow exactly the same path. If this playlist works ok then copy both the working and broken playlists using iTunes and mail them to support@naimaudio.com along with a description of your system and UPnP server make, model and firmware version. Note if it is a huge playlists you only need to add a few of the tracks that are not working for us to determine what has caused the problem

Hi TJ,

Thank you for your reply.  I do not know how to use iTunes on my iPad to copy the playlists.  Can you walk me thru please?

- connect iphone to items with a usb cable

- go to the iPhone apps page

- scroll down a bit until you see the file sharing section

- copy out the playlists (they have .nmpl file extension)
