Uniti2 Clock

Posted by: CGEM on 22 May 2015

Hi - I have posted this before but there still seems to be no firmware fix for the clock not having recognised that the hour has changed - my Uniti2 is still 1 hour behind. I don't really want to do a reset (should I have to?) and trying to change the timezone doesn't work either. What is going on??

There has been no fix and you haven't done a reset or anything else so it would be fair to say in answer to "what's going on?" Nothing!

Fall will come soon and then the clock is showing the right time again. Naim will fix the problem during the winter and this time next year all will be good…

Same here.

I am so frustrated with Naim.

Not only did my local dealer have to replace my Uniti 2 six times because of the wellknown CD skipping problems. Now Naim shows no effort at all to fix this stupid clock bug. Every cheap electronic device in our home automatically switched to the new time. But my 4,000 euro Uniti 2 has to be resetted? Are you kidding me? Why does it take weeks/months to launch a firmware update?

Naim should be so embarrassed!

I agree. Will somebody from Naim step up and reply as to why they won't/can't fix this basic flaw. After all this money and research for the best unit it is being totally let down by the seeming lack of focus to get the absolute basics sorted

What has a clock got to do with the basics of audio reproduction. You are being pathetic. Turn off the clock display, use your watch, oven, tv or umpteen other devices that have the time on them and wait for the next firmware update. It isn't a priority, this has already been communicated several times but you can't be bothered reading, clearly.  Or pop over to padded cell and paddy to your heart's content. Alternatively try getting a life. It isn't Naim that should be embarassed it's you (Andy_ Hamburg). You paid 4,000 Euros for a digital clock? Must need your bumps feeling. And what exactly were you/your dealer doing to the Unitis. Six replacements? Likely story..... not.

Take a deep breath Andy, then....calm.....   ;-)

Actually I agree the clock is not the biggest of big deals in the audio world today.  However I think 6 unit returns due to not playing CDs properly is really rather serious.  I would feel most concerned about QC and rather discouraged about my investment generally if that happened to me.....

AndyPat - you are kindly invited to visit me in Hamburg. There I can show you all 6 serial numbers of my replaced units. These Uniti 2 all skipped CDs several weeks/months after each was replaced. Maybe that was just bad luck. But if you take a look into the forums I do not seem to be the only unlucky dude with such an experience.

I agree that a clock is only a side feature of an audio device. But if you pay that money it should be expected that also the clock works properly. Or that the manufacturer takes its customers' complaints more seriously and launchs a firmware update solving this issue in time.

AndyPat, you just seem to be a real fan who does not like Naim to be critized in any way. I do not say that Naim doesn't make fantastic sounding devices. Otherwise I would have claimed my money back after the 2nd or 3rd replacement. But it must be allowed to show one's despair with their QC and their firmware policy without being attacked by you AndyPat.

+1

I think the reason for the delay for the time fix is Naim are also fixing a few other issues in the next firmware release. What Naim should have done is released a quick firmware just for the time Issue as users notice this on a daily basis as they glance over to their expensive equipment.

Naim have your money, why should they care how much of an inconvenience it is for you. They will fix it when they are good and ready too, maybe

Now, now Fox.......  ;-)

Sorry I disagree ... there are several reasons why a device such as Uniti2 should have a digital clock - especially those users who use a Uniti2 or UnitiQute in a bedroom as a wake up device.

If Naim don't want to offer a working clock then they shouldn't have fitted one to the device.

This isn't just annoyance that there is no automatic daylight savings change, its an annoyance that without a reset you can't even correct the "fault" manually!

There is a 'feature' on the forum called a 'search', plus to use such terms as the product being "... totally let down" by a clock (which is not wrong on my three devices) is a bit lame.
