Naim app - automatic queue

Posted by: MartinKocurek on 29 May 2015

I have new NDX and I have realized that with some albums I got automatic queue with all album tracks and some other albums do not create automatic queues.. what is wrong? There are no playlists even in folders where automatic queue is generated.

This is not a function of NDX,  its your UPnP media server configuration

- what make/model is NAS & what make is UPnP media server

OK, but what should I do? I do not know what is wrong..from folder point of view on PC everything looks the same but works different

You are not helping with that answer,  what UPnP media server are you using,  it that you can configure how the data is read & published on the Naim app

Second question,  what Naim app are you using iOS or Android

Sorry, I am using Synology NAS server with Synology Media server and iOS Naim app

Is it fully up to date?

Mike B is the forum expert on Synology's media server

OK the same as me

Are the albums all loaded in the NAS as albums ?? - normal answer is yes, if not thats a complication that might get messy.

The Synology NAS Media Server I advise to start simple -

In General Settings

- set the language to your choice

- DMA Menu Style to "Simple"

In Browsing Settings

- Music Display Format to "Title Only"

- Check only the box for "Display Cover Image ......."

In DMA Compatibility - leave all boxes unchecked

Next the app - touch the gear wheel in the top right corner to open "Settings"

Touch the UPnP line & open "Input Settings"

Each of "Input Enabled" & "Tap for Options" must be checked (but not UPnP "Compatibility Mode"

Go backwards to "Settings" - Touch "Audio Settings",  this should be checked if you have the NDX connected for SN volume control.

Go back to "Settings" > "Other Settings" > Check "Stay Connected" & "Use Streamers Language"

Now in the Naim app under "Music" share, you can select to browse by folder, all music, by album, by artist  etc

- select to browse "By Folder",  that will give you a list of all the albums exactly as they appear in the NAS File Station & the same as you see it in PC Windows Explorer.

Select what ever albums you what to test

When you open the album,  you can start to play using the three dots at the right top of the screen & you should get a pop-up with a selection of Play, Queue Next, Queue Last,  Add To ......

OR  you can touch the first track & get a pop-up with other how to play options.

Thats it - good luck, let us know how you get on

Thank you. 3 dots and pop up menu "Queue Next" created whole Album queue. Great.

the support from forum members to others on here is really something special.

You sounded like you were going to be having a bad weekend Martin, and then Mike-B steams in

With a complete 'how to' guide.

And now everything is well with the world!

Brilliant.

+1 Best community I've seen.

I have the same problem only I'm using a Netgear ReadyNAS (mk1) and the Android app. On all but two or three albums the tracks are as they should be, EG

Track 1

Track 2

Track 3

But on the few others each track is shown seperatley so to play the whole album I would have to go to each track and click queue next (is this understandable?).

I've looked and looked for any difference in the way the albums are copied on the NAS but can't see anything different.

I followed Mike-b's post closely but I don't have "Audio settings", also when I go to the Music folder and touch hold it I only have - Play, queue next, queue last, add to... and new playlist.

This is fairly frustrating so if anyone can help I'd be very happy!

Cheers

John

John, you need to use 3 dots in upper right corner not 3 dots on track. Then you will get whole album queue at one click. This is exactly i was looking for today

Posted on: 29 May 2015 by Mike-B

John,  I don't know the Android app,  so I'm out.

John, I don't have a ReadyNas and use the iOS app but I suspect that your issue is probably tagging related.

What browsing views are you using on the app? Are you using Folder view or Artist and/or Album views?

If the latter, do all the tracks appear under the same album on the 'separate tracks' albums?

If the tracks are showing as different albums I would check that the spelling of the album name and/or artist/album artist tags are identical for all the tracks and, for example don't have an additional blank space at the end.

I've looked again at the folder on the NAS and still can't find any difference, but have made a small difference to the tagging in MP3 tag. Doing a rescan as I type and if any success I'll report back.

Just strange that it's only about two or three albums affected. Only thing in common is that the albums affected are all ones I've ripped from the CD in flac format of course, yet all the others are fine.

Very odd!

Cheers

John

Just checked, the changes to the tagging have made no difference :-(
