nServe and HDX

Posted by: Checkthisout68 on 01 June 2015

Hi, nServe on Macbook AND on Ipad (latest software version) is loosing the connection with my HDX (latest version) every now and then and I simply cannot figure out why and how.

HDX is connected to a Netgear network switch and so is my notebook connected with the same switch eliminating WIFI as a source of trouble. Router is feeding the internet connection to the switch and is set to DHCP with fixed IP addresses for the the HDX front and backend.

Then suddenly after a day or so nServe cannot not find the HDX anymore. The HDX, however, is running and can be managed from the front display, plays music, all fine. It still shows the same IP like the router had assigned to it. I have also tried typing in this IP address manually but Nserve still can't find the HDX. I can ping the address successfully. I can even access the harddisc itself from Apple Finder. So it really comes down to nServe and the IOS app.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Best

Chris

Chris, when it's not responding to the iOS app, is it responding to the OS X version of nServe?

Please try that too.

And what do you need to do to get nServe for iOS working again?  Do you have to reboot the HDX, or just do stuff at the iPhone/iPad?

Hi Bart, when it is not working it is not working with any of the ipad and desktop softwares.

Yes, I have to reboot the HDX.

Thanks

Chris,  all I can add is that my UnitiServe did this for many months before its hard drive failed.  I am not sure if it was related . . . but what I was seeing was after on average about a week, I would start to lose the connection with the apps even though I could browse just fine with OS X Finder.

I meant to get Naim tech support to look at it remotely, but never did.  Then after a while, the hdd had failed so I just got it repaired.  It hasn't happened to me since then.

It was rather annoying to have to reboot the thing once a week.
