Play lists across multiple devices

Using the iPad app, if you have two separate NAS drives, can you create a play list consisting of tracks from both drives?

I'm pretty sure you can, but I only have one NAS, so I can't test this. Just to be clear, do you actually mean a 'playlist', i.e. a list of tracks saved to the iPad app? Or do you mean a 'play queue' which is a temporary list that isn't saved?

Simon, I'm curious; I can't test this as I currently only have one NAS/server (Unitiserve), although that may change.

As a Naim streamer only has one UPnP input, I was guessing that once a track or playlist was in the app play queue, the option to add it to a new or existing playlist on the app would still be there. As the play queue exists on the streamer, whereas app playlists exist on the individual app/iOS device, this seems feasible. Could be wrong here, maybe someone with 2 NAS's will be able to tell us?

Graham, Chris, yes the NAS drives are separate to the UPnP media server.

So you can create a playlist on you UPnP Server (.m3u file or equivalent)

NAS01-----> UPnP Media Server ---> Playlist on UPnP Server --> Naim app

NAS02---^

You can also create a Playlist on the Naim App - and this can refer to multiple NAS's but from a single UPnP Media server

NAS01-----> UPnP Media Server ---> Playlist on Naim App

NAS02---^

Additionally  you can create a playlist on the Naim app that spans multiple UPnP media servers

NAS01-----> UPnP Media Server01 -----> Playlist on Naim App

NAS02-----> UPnP Media Server02 --^

Simon, your earlier posts seem to have vanished - there must have been references to 3rd party PSUs in there somewhere!  If I understand you correctly, the short answer to Graham's question is 'yes'. And my guess was also correct? Not that I'm seeking to take any credit for it - it was no more than an (informed???) guess.

Chris, I removed my earlier posts, once I updated the info after having tested and posted above.. Otherwise I felt it would be confusing to follow.

So yes the Naim app playlist can have multiple NAS's and multiple UPnP media servers contained within a single list.

Perfect, thanks Simon!

Reason will become clear in a day or two...
