Goodbye Naim and the good people of the forum
Posted by: Justin9960 on 27 June 2015
Just wanted to thank and say goodbye to some decent people on this forum, as today I bought a B&O Moment to connect to my B&O 8000 active speakers. This is not one of those "I've found something better than Naim" threads, but a sincere thanks to those who I have respected on this forum.
Tonight was confirmation that I have done the right thing, as my wife and I passed the controller back and forth typing in various songs into Deezer, and had a good trip down memory lane. The sound quality was irrelevant as it was simply a case of having a laugh, even enjoying a bit of 5 Star!! Good luck to all, and I hope you continue your music.
Many thanks for the journey.
Beware of this - it is going to standardize your emotions. No technology has ever had as its goal to free man.

You remind me of man who accosted me outside sevenoaks hifi many years ago, after I had just bought an Marantz CD player. Don't quote me, but he said something along the lines of 'it's the Japanese technology, it picks up on the waves from the Brian (he may have meant brain), and converts your faith toward darkness, it gets in there'. Was it you?
Uh, I believe AC was referring to the color-coded interface on the B&O Moment, which allows you to specify an emotional "mood", and the device will choose the music.
Ah ha. I see....how does it change colour? Looks like a piece of wood to me.

It comes with mood rings.
goodluck !

When you turn over the top piece of wood, there's a color touch screen.

You mean turn over the "plinth" I think?

Nice note Justin. Good luck and enjoy your music.
Is there a B&O forum ? Can you talk about Greek cheese Danish ?
Good luck, and I hope you find the B&O forum as useful and entertaining.
I know what you mean it's often fun on streaming services ( Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer, Napster etc) to go down memory lane and have a laugh. It's good for after dinner parties when everyone has had perhaps a little too much to drink, and it's a case of guess that obscure tune from 1974..... it amazes me how there is nearly always somebody who gets it.

Justin,
Congratulations on finding a gear solution you and your wife can enjoy together. Sounds very romantic . I've always enjoyed your posts here as they typically seem genuine and well constructed. As we've seen time and again those that say 'goodbye' are often back, so I hope you'll at least keep the door open and perhaps visit us from time to time. On the other hand, if you find a clean break from the forum best, that's understood as well. Cheers!

TOBYJUG,
That would have been a perfect comment to use the exploding sausage.
You missed your chance
I haven't visited the B&O forum, but wouldn't be surprised if they have a "Which wine are you drinking today?" topic.

Simpler to use R2. We've not had a good night unless we've heard any three from Maxine Nightingale's Back where we started from, Freda Payne's Band of Gold, Pussycat's Mississippi, Edison Lighthouse's Love Grows and Smokie's Living next door to Alice.
Good luck and enjoy your music Justin, you've been decent.

Yeah vinyl has really been a time-machine for me.
I see the Moment *does* have a vibration mode, and is moisture-resistant.

Ha! We use the Sonos Connect for that purpose...usually inbetween the main and desert when everyone has had too much wine. Usually 80's stuff... but when 'Handbags & Gladrags' comes on then it's taxi time!

All the best Justin. Pleased you've escaped the madness that is Naim.

No, it wasn't me.
What I meant is that I deeply distrust all devices that analyze and memorize your 'choices' to suggest things on the same lines of your 'choice'; because from the first moment you'll accept those suggestions, it won't be your choice any more.
I have no wish to appear like an outmoded sci-fi catastrophist, rather simply to alert on the risk of being slowly, gently, technologically led to passivity.

I bet you've got a Unitiqute squirreled away in your loft....and it's probably already gnawing its way into your mind.
Farewell Justin - I'm pleased that you have resisted the urge to comment further on this thread - I'd wager that you are having a sneaky peek though
Take care and have fun.
Not a lot of people know this: -
"In 1963, Tim Brooke-Taylor, John Cleese, David Hatch, Jo Kendall, Bill Oddie and (behind the scenes) Humphrey Barclay took their first steps in the world of show business when the 1963 revue A Clump Of Plinths transferred to London’s West End for a season (under the title Cambridge Circus).
The show’s success resulted in the B.B.C. putting together 30 minutes of highlights (with another Cambridge Footlighter Graham Chapman now in the cast) for broadcast later that year, and three follow-up editions aired in April 1964. Thus began the first series of what would become one of radio’s favourite comedy programmes, I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again."
Good luck in your adventures Justin. I'm sure you'll be back
Enjoy the music.
This forum is a place for music lovers and HiFi enthusiasts. I have found that the overlap of those two broad groups appears to be relatively small.
if you are enjoying the music then no reason for not sharing in the Music Room. Naim kit is not a pre-requisite for that place.
