unitiserve

unitiserve has stopped ripping. put a disc in  - it sounds as though it seats and then spins for a few seconds and then stops. The rip section of the touch reads 'no cd present', and nothing seems to register on the dtc. The disc won't eject with a touch of the naim logo, only way to reclaim disc is with a piece of wire.

Using the touch and the dtc it selects and plays perfect the contents of the hard drive and usb sticks. Unable to play disc or rip.

Took u/s back to dealers, he connected it up, inserted disc, it worked perfect.

Returned home, inserted disc - nothing.

Reinstalled dtc - still nothing.

Suggestions?

Thanks.

SSD or 1TB unit? Using a NAS?

My first unitiserve suffered from the same affliction. At first I thought it only a random glitch, but it become increasingly more frequent. I had to take mine back to my dealer, and ended up trading in my original 1TB for a SSD (for an additional fee of coarse).

I noticed that the front casing has since changed. With a small (and forgive my lack of technical knowledge), "button", in which you can insert or press a paperclip/pin head into; which I imagine is for manual ejection.

I am very happy with my SSD, although it has only been running for a short while now.

Recommendations: have your dealer get you a replacement unit. It only becomes more problematic (at least it did in my case)

Good Luck,

It's the 1TB. From new (4 weeks) it ripped 37 albums without trouble. I've poking around the dtc trying to figure how to get it to work as I expected. And, not knowing my arm from my ankle, when it comes computers I figured I changed something. But at the dealers, using his dtc, it woked perfect first time so I guess it's me.

If I select system settings it disconnects. The error log - top menus - reads sophia not responding.

At the dealers, when ripping, the buttons were green and he had the option of ejecting the disc.

On mine only the rip button is green and it refuses to do any thing but play music.

I like it a lot, I just wish I could figure out what I'd done.

thanks

Return to dealer - demand a replacement - life is too short.

Take it to your dealer and have them look at it.  If indeed it is a simple setting then they surely will be able to rectify that.  If it's something more then they they would be able to take care of that.  Thats' why they are there.

Hi,

Additional to above responses, is the cd a standard "red book" (standard) or one with extended data?

What disc is this?

Is the unit definitely set to rip mode?

I think you have two issues here, one the disc/unit and another connectivity issue between pc and unit.

Tog- demand a replacement is a bit premature , he needs to find out what's going on first if it performed fine at the retailers. Let's help to sort it.

We're having the exact same issue with our demo unit.  The CD (Foo Fighters - There is Nothing Left to Lose) I'd tried to copy is quite scuffed and it seems to be that as a result the UnitiServe doesn't see it and because it doesn't see it, it won't eject it.  This is the second time it has happened.  The first time was with a Supertramp album that was actually in very good condition, eventually it just spat it out.

The cd used was brand new and just a normal disc. I tried deleting albums that have been successful and re-ripping them.

My next idea is to take laptop with dtc and try it with dealers u/s.

Whether it's in rip mode, I don't know, as which ever way I do it nothing happens. As I said, I've probably just done something dumb.

I can't complain about the unit as it worked perfect at the shop.

thanks
