Improvements in 1.5a SP2 ?
Posted by: Dudi on 10 April 2011
I have just upgraded my US. It went well. Which improvements have been done in SP2 vs SP1? Same for the DTC ? I can't feel or see any.
Is there any at Naim who can answer to this?
Bump!
Hello all
I would also like to know what issues are addressed / what functionality is added in SP2.
As far as I'm aware it is standard practice to include this sort of documentation as part of the upgrade (I know there is a .PDF in the package covering installation of SP2 and adding a Music Store using SP2).
It's not good practice to install an upgrade on a system critical component (critical for my continued happiness at least ) without first knowing what should be changed by the update.

Sorry to be blunt, but why install an upgrade when one has no idea what it does ?
Generally there's been quite a lot of internal work done tidying up the way that the system accesses its internal databasing which means that the system is tied up less and therefore desktop client spends less time coming back with "The hard disc player is busy" messages.
There have also been improvements made to the way that the system handles shares with login details when set up from the web / TV / front panel user interfaces.
This release is *NOT* an "additional functionality" release - it is definitely one that should be applied though to make the system more stable and reliable.
Cheers

Thanks Phil for the reply. Am I correct in understanding that the improvements are only to the ways in which control interfaces access the data ? Are there any changes to the way music is managed by the playback software that would improve SQ ?
Thanks
Jan.
Before the update I was continually plagued with errors about the number of rows it was expecting when trying to get a list of albums - it now just works.
I believe this is to do with the way the albums are held on my share, but now I can get a listing I can find out what is causing the issue(s).
