DSD ?

The new firmware supports DSD. Is there anywhere to acquire DSD files, other than Acoustic Sounds,  which will only sell to USA (and a limited amount to Canada). I am particularly interested in hearing Elton John's 'Honky Chateau' and Dylan's 'Desire' and 'Street Legal' , which are not available in any other Hi-Res format so far. Is there an avenue to extract from SACD?

Try a look around today's posts on 4.3 & DSD

DSD is a niche product at the moment & its a bit limited, classical has more but a few of the more serious end of rock & folk are available.

In answer to your specific album questions .......  yes your in luck with Reggie's Honky Chateau & Dylan's Street Legal.

Best DSD is native DSD - DSD all the way from studio to download

The best place I've found to search for DSD has all albums & artists listed by the DSD vendors www store(s) is http://www.findhdmusic.com/alb...ch/?q=&fmt_dsd=1

Compare prices tho' the same album can be quite variable from different vendors & the excellent unique artists & albums from Blue Coast are expensive.

Yes.  Certain models of Sony's PS3 can be jailbroken and allow ripping of SACD ISOs, which can then be converted to DSF or DFF.  It is not a difficult process to load the software on the PS3; more difficult to actually locate the correct model of PS3 which supports SACD playack AND is still running an older firmware that allows the ripping software to be loaded.

In the last 6 months I've ripped ~300 SACDs successfully using the process and cannot tell any audible difference during comparisons between the rips and multiple DSD albums I purchased from Acoustic Sounds prior to obtaining the Playstation solution.

As you mentioned, this is unfortunately the only way to obtain DSD files of some albums that have not been released for sale as downloads and I've found it very useful with some fantastic sounding SACDs from Mobile Fidelity and some Japanese SHM SACDs.
