2Qute DAC Sample rate indication.
Posted by: BigH47 on 11 July 2015
it does not seem to matter what quality file I play the indicator colour stays at a light purple, which I have interpreted as 192. I noticed the same with theDACmagic2 too.
setup is HP Proliant server - MacMini - 2Qute, using iTunes AIFF mainly,COG or VLC for higher rates.
is there some setting I should be looking at maybe.
Orange 44.1 clour shows when using the optical input for the TV.
Sounds strange, just a bizarre thought, the colour isn't related to the input selection as opposed to sample rate is it?
As I thought Simon. As I said DACmagic showed this too.
Unfortunately my memory is not as reliable, but I thought there was a setting in iTunes in a seperate section of the sound settings but I have not seen that recently.
Check audiomidi settings to make sure you're not upsampling everything to 192.
That's the thing James. Any idea what it shoud be set to?
Can't even remember setting audiomidi on the MM, I do on the iMac.
I'll check it out.
Set it to the sample rate of the original file Howard - ie 44.1 for redbook CD files. I would have thought your TV audio is at 48Khz so as Simon says you may have input related colour changes too. .
Are you saying that you have to change the midi settings every time you change sample rate files?
The indicator light on my 2Qute changes colour automatically according to the sample rate input. I only have feed from one source.

Howard,
Are you using Audirvana with your MM?

Yes - its a pain. Use an audio player such as bit perfect (or for more money something like Audivarna or Amarra - both excellent players) and they will do this automatically
Thanks guys lots of good info.
No Audirvana not sure what that does TBH.
I have used BP before but had some glitches , drop outs and such like but haven't used it with Yosemite.
I'm still slightly confused as I'm sure I haven't used Midi thing on the MM but I'll investigate.
Audirvana on the MM is brilliant. As a relative new comer to it, I'm still shocked by how good it sounds compared to my UQ2 into my Hugo. The interface is very easy to get used to, if a bit simplistic and its very easy to use - welll recommended

+1. As you say a bit simplistic, but once you get used to a few quirks the SQ more than makes up for it.

Interesting given my experience I had just posted here https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...-server-and-renderer - any suggestions for whether I have set up wrong?
IMM does work great as a server though, using Servio uPNP (free)
The setup sounds fine - i've no direct experience of the Hugo but perhaps it's not so good via USB ?
It's good via USB.
Howard,
Audirvana is excellent. I'll get in touch when I get back from Spain, we're coming back today.
Steve
Go for Audirvana Howard. It's pretty well fautless, sounds better than standard iTunes, and automatically switches sample rates. If you use it in iTunes integrated mode you never notice it (apart from the better sound quality).
And if you have files not supported on iTunes you can switch off iTunes Integrated Mode and play them directly through Audirvana.
Update Sunday:-
Bit perfect downloaded on MM.
Checked Audio Midi Setup and it was set to 384.000 changed it around and indeed the window on 2Q changes as per instructions.
I might leave things as is for a while as we have a guest staying for a couple of days.
GENERAL QUESTION, if I'm reading correctly Aurdirvana is the control software for play back, a substitute for iTunes?
If I try the trial version is there likely to be any issues or can it run with iTunes?
Is the idea to stop running iTunes altogether?
So, if you trial Audirvana and decide not to go further with it, iTunes will remain, unchanged.
Take a look at the Audirvana site and read the manual, it is written very well and clearly (much easier than snippets from a forum) :-)

Thanks Jude, I'll D/L the instructions and report back in a couple of days.
I had some excellent advice on here when I made the jump and I use AV2 in stand alone mode, mainly because I detest Itunes. It works briliantly and I am stiil thrilled with it. There is a great set up guide in the manual and some excellent additional advice on here. Have fun.
I have no problems with iTunes and prefer it to the music library of AV2 so I stuck with AV1.5 which works well.
