An educated apple - aka muso

Went twice now to  see/hear/touch the muso at 2 different  local apple stores. The first didn't know they had it (they did). Once they were aware, the best thing they could say about it is that it can be played very loudly before distorting. The 2nd time (today) they were after some difficulty able to get the i-pad mini to connect. At $1500 dollars these are NOT going to sell themselves.I think naim needs to produce a hq brochure explaining the features and details i.e. 6 amps,6 speakers etc. Reminds me of when cell phones were first becoming an item that everyone must have.Their was (and still is) a company called vertu- making hq (almost indestructible) phones . Visiting my brother in L.A. I stopped at a fancy jewelry watch store, they had a glossy book explaining the virtues of vertu- watchglass crystal, jewelled buttons (like a fine watch,so they won't wear out and a pic of a porsche driving over one without damaging it. To this day I really don't like having a cell phone but this made me almost want one and at least explained why it was so costly. Came back to NY and a different store had the same phones just tossed into a case- the price seemed far less reasonable on the left coast (same price). Naim needs to either publish a brochure or get the apple salespeople up to speed.

Pretty good reviews, except for the people who hated it.

I am liking ours more since we got a TV that would output digital via the toslink. With the recent firmware update, everything works better than ever.   I do wish there were more options to adjust the bass and treble.  Ours often sounds rolled off.

Nevertheless, I could live with a MuSo as our only system in a small apartment.

The problem is for those who are unfamiliar with naim $1500 is a tough sale without educating the customer and I don't think that the apple salespeople are up to the job  (at least not at this time). That is why I think naim needs to get literature into the stores along with the actual muso.

benjy,

You seem to be echoing the sentiments of this thread:

Wish I had a video camera today when I visited John Lewis in Cambridge. There I saw a silent Muso which I kicked into life, only to hear some dreary stadium ballad. Wandered off for shopping, was just leaving when I saw a black boy with his girlfriend approach the Muso with a confident smile. He flicked the controls, pulled up a hiphop track, turned up the volume, both looked blissed-out. The floor staff  uncomfortable at first (race? music? volume?) started smiling, staff and customers edging in to listen. I can't claim this turned into a full-scale musical number, complete with dancing on top of the spin driers, but it looked like the beginnings... Muso magic!
